The Bali tiger (Panthera tigris sondaica) was a tiger population that lived in the Indonesian island of Bali. This population is extinct since the 1950s. Balinese names for the tiger are harimau Bali and samong. The last tiger was shot in 1925, and this subspecies was declared extinct on September 27, 1937. This subspecies is extinct due to habitat loss and poaching.
