I have a copy of Henri Matisse's "Nu Bleu IV" hanging on my ceiling.
Due to health issues, I sometimes cannot sleep. "Nu Bleu" made when Matisse was bed-ridden. It reminds me, no matter the shape of my body, creation will be possible till I can no longer move or I die.
The added inspiration for my drawing, as you can tell by the title, was equally inspired by the movie "Big Eyes."
When I got up that night and grabbed the pad of bristol board, my intent was to do a version of Henri's creation. But the subconscious effect the movie had on me seeped into this image. The initial and final product was NOT what she is as you see. My intent was to do something closer to Matisse's creation.
But like all things Musing, the Muse had another idea on what my hand would draw.
This final image is ink because I could not bring myself to mar her with color; She is perfect in her simplicity.
I just freakin' love her.
Initial drawing: Castell 4h pencil on bristol board. Line work, Micron Technical Pen .05. Line work darkened and the white/transparent background created using vector lines in Corel Paint Shop Pro X3,
