An acrylic painting of an Australian Marsupial called a Numbat (Myrmecobius fasciatus).
Also known as a banded anteater, walpurti or noombat. A very endangered species of marsupial. It diet is primarily termites, or white ants as they are sometimes called. This little marsupial had become extinct in parts of Australia, though through special programs, they are gradually being reintroduced to certain parts of Australia in the hopes of regrowing their population and re-establishing them where they are meant to be. Extinction was brought on through land clearing and predation from feral (non native) populations of animals such as foxes and cats.
