Dear zen_killa: May I take you just 1 minute to answer one question for a survey on DBH designers? As a DBH designer, which improvement do you want the most? 1-MOTIVATIONS – Providing more incentive and motivations (e.g., fun, money, learning, satisfaction and career benefits from recognition) for you to design and innovate; 2-DECOMPOSITION – Requiring less design effort from you, by decomposing (i.e., breaking down) design tasks; 3-TOOLKIT – Requiring less design effort from you, by providing easier-to-use and smarter design tool (i.e., toolkit); 4-COLLABORATION – Facilitating more collaboration, discussion and division of work among designers during design, in order to enhance the designs; 5-SPEED – Faster speed and shorter cycle for evaluating submissions and production; 6-FIRM’S ENHANCEMENT – Putting in more expertise and efforts by the company to further enhance your designs; 7-FIRM’S VERSATILITY – Putting in more resources by the company to improve production versatility and product variety. Please just choose one (or several) number or keyword and tell me. You can also tell us which one is more needed than another one; or you can choose more than one numbers; or you can tell us which one(s) is the least urgent. If you have anything more to add, please let me know. I will definitely incorporate it in our research. We believe that together we could do something to improve the open innovation of the world. This survey is valid at least until May, 1st 2010. #*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*# Description of this research: We are currently conducting an empirical research targeting at leading academic journals on innovation and design (R&D Management or Journal of Product Innovation Management). If lucky, you can see the survey results among these journals before 2012. It is based upon an investigation of numerous members of over 100 communities related to open innovation/design and user innovation/design. We are going to investigate both initative managers and users. We will compare the data of initiatives across different industries and business models, and along several other differentiating factors. Mr. Wei Wei, PhD candidate at Institute of Systems Engineering, Beijing Jiaotong University, can be reached via Email: firstname.lastname@example.org. The research team also include Fachen Wei and Jinsheng Shen – professors at Beijing Jiaotong University. Recently, we’ve just finished a multi-case study, and submitted to R&D Management, which examined over 144 initatives and companies and built a theoretical foundation for Internet-based open innovation/design and user innovation/design. Our project is sponsored by NSFC of China. We have successfully condensed the survey to its simplest form, so as to allow you to participate with least effort. Confidentiality guarantee: We won’t disclose or identify data about any individuals or about participating companies. Please pass this question along to a friend or family who you feel should participate. Many thanks for your help!
