Maybe people are also donating, but the shirt serves as a conversation starter – as does any “awareness” ribbon. People buy ribbons, bracelets, hats, socks, etc. with awareness ribbons and slogans because part of it is donated to charity AND it serves to spark conversation with others. It’s a way of saying “I more than just FB status care about Japan, if you’d like to, talk to me, and I can tell you where I helped.” More than that, it’s a way of showing people affected by the disaster “Hey, I know I live far away, but I care about whether or not you’re ok and your life can return to normal. I’m trying to show you in ways other than just my speech – you are not alone. You matter. We care.”
If you’re not a fan of awareness ribbon items, that’s cool, but recognize their function is more than just for a partial donation.
Awww man, you had to get two models with Asian decent. They look so happy with their smiling faces, it just makes you buy the shirt. Its like subliminal marketing…. that helps the world. Its a mind boggling concept that I can barely understand.
Oh and this is like my first post in three months. Hi everyone. :)
Oh and johnsonflores donating his DBH money to help Japan is just remarkable. Shows great character!
If there are any concerns or criticisms about how this relief effort is being conducted, you can contact DBH via e-mail about it. If anybody has anything negative to say about this relief effort they can either keep it to themselves or take it elsewhere. Regardless of how you feel about it, this is helping. That’s a fact. Your negativity is not helping anyone anywhere, that is also a fact.
thank you “thestray” unfortunately we have to remind a small percentage of people that we are all on this planet together and to quote Milton “no man is an Island”. Its time to come together. These are the days that can show what unity can do in the face of adversity.
