When you write a report, by quoting or referencing something, you need give recognition to the original writer. I think the same applies for every works that are borrowed, used or referenced. You should have let people know beforehand when you are referencing something – especially for copyrighted work.
For non copyrighted work, I guess it is safe to say you can use it anyway you want, even if you give no recognition to original author.
As far as the originality of this piece, I have no comment.
we think different…if my piece was based on Mueck’s work, i would mention him. Bu on my point of view, its not, its completely different, specialy the concept (that is, in my understanding, what makes an ordinary design became a true piece of art). Mueck’s work its an sculpture, that image its a sigle point of view of it…i don’t see any connection, beside the anatomical reference, with his work… thats why i don’t see myself crediting him…
I hope you and everybody understand that…
well said mathiole, and don’t sweat it. now if he had posed a skeleton behind a girl, on a clock, then i’d say ‘wait a second…’. I like your art much better btw, his sculptures are a little creepy haha :)
