So is this just a back print?

DV_Prints DV_Prints Artist from

Yeah, I wanted to be a little more subtle with this one. I know people like front designs, and for the most part I do too, I just thought this one in particular would be perfect on the lower back. I wanted to trick people into believing this was just a plain black shirt with a little surprise for those who felt the need to take another look. Call me crazy if you want, but I was the first to do so anyways. Thanks for the comment either way!

I really like the design, I’d just prefer it somewhere other than the lower back – I’d be ok with it still on the back, just not a fan of the “lower back.” For me, lower back is reminiscent of the lower back ‘tramp stamp’ – not really a look I’d like to emulate.

DV_Prints DV_Prints Artist from

Yeah, I never really thought about it that way. I just see a design the way I want to see it, and personally I like lower back tattoos on girls. I only heard the term “tramp stamp” for the first time about a month ago, and yet the discussion did not seem to put the idea in a negative context like the name seems to.

i think it’s awesome. if you think of this as a tramp stamp, maybe you’re overlooking the image itself and just thinking about the placement. i would never see this on someone and assume something like that about them. I had no idea people even thought of it that way

I’ve known about tramp stamps (and the term) for over 5 years, and at least out here, it’s not really a flattering thing. It can be a regional/country difference (y’all are from Canada, I’m from the states), but there’s DEFINITELY a negative connotation around here when it comes to designs in that location. While I agree tattoos can look well placed there, the problem is that particular location now has a very specific stigma attached – good or bad, that’s what it is.

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the design, I just hate the placement – and when it comes to clothing I’m willing to buy/wear, placement is a factor just as design is. I was suggesting perhaps moving the design up – perhaps like she was getting ready to blow up the hair on the mid/upper back – to perhaps make the shirt more commercial/accessible to more people. Aside from that, unless the girl’s SUPER skinny, the design’s not going to lay right on the lower back so a lot of the effect would be lost and it’d look.. weird (as a girl, trust me, I’ve seen it/had it happen to me). Sometimes a design can look amazing on a mock up, but ya gotta keep in mind how it’s going to work on ALL the sizes – and I think moving the design up would make it seem less feminine, open it up guys, and increase the chance that it’d be printed by DBH.

I love the design (and would love to have it on shirt), and I’m offering critical feedback because I’d love for it to go well.

I completely understand, and I very much appreciate your feedback Karyn. I simply didn’t think about it when I was putting it all together. I actually would like to go back and rework the design as well. There are a couple things I’m personally not happy with either. Just some simple design elements that I think can be reworked.

I’m glad you appreciate the feedback – I know how easy it is to come off as a total bitch through text, so I always try REALLY hard not to convey feelings I don’t have.

Also, in your defense… you’re a dude. Mens and Womens bodies are built differently, and the curvier the woman the more different – making it hard for most guys to automatically think of “oh, how about X or Y?” Most of this stuff is something women with figures like me have to keep in mind every time we go shopping, so they’re things that automatically come to mind when looking at designs. I have no idea how designs can fit/be altered on a guys frame and it’s various sizes, because I’ve never been a dude, haha.

I’m serious when I saw I LOVE this, though, so I’d love to see you retool it to where you’re happy with it – maybe place it in the WIP thread and get some feedback.

Haha, I never thought that about you, I was just making conversation. I appreciate honesty and sincerity very much, and I honestly didn’t have great feelings about this one to begin with either, that’s why I wanted to hear more of what you had to say about it (so I could place a finger on why I disliked it myself).
On the topic of sizes, I do actually understand what you mean, but in the complete opposite context. They don’t make mens’ sizes that fit me properly, the best fitting shirts I have are womens’ small. I am very much underweight, yet I’m taller than average. A men’s small shirt is too stalky and the waist section usually flares out like a bell on me. Mens’ medium is alright, but I prefer a shirt that fits to my body a little more than having a draping shirt, and the only size that there is that does that is womens’ small. It is rather embarassing, but I suppose every body is different, and DBH only has so many tshirt model pictures to work with. I came up with a great idea last night to get my friends to model with blank t-shirts on so that I can have a bigger selection of models and sizes to work with. This one was pretty much uploaded on a whim.

Interesting commentary…. Imo, the basic design is baddass, I don’t like the placement either, and being a fan of large and detailed designs I would like to see this expanded and with more depth and intricacy, I like the idea and concept a lot.

FireCoral417 FireCoral417 Human from

The only problem I have with it is the placement as well, but only because (at first glance) I see that gust of wind coming up just above the tush. So, naturally, I think of “breaking wind”. Then, I notice it’s being blown out of the girl’s mouth, so my first though it “fart breath”. I’m not saying this to be cruel. Just wanted to give you another perspective. I think for the image, itself, the placement is better suited in its standard position; front/center.

hahaha, don’t worry about it, I actually found your post to be very humorous, and I’m personally not a huge fan of the design myself. It just happened to be one that people wanted to see made into a shirt. I probably subconsciously sabotaged it because I disliked it too much, but apparently people like the design and would like to see it in different locations so I’ll see what I can do about it. Thanks for the laugh though, I’ll be snickering all day tomorrow.

Nice work mister, really like them all!

Here’s the new and revised version of the design.
