Okay, I admit that my comments were pretty dicky. Constructive criticism instead: I think the comp on the shirt would be more effective if the type had more of a correlation between the imagery. There’s a little bit of tension with the type since it has such tight leading, along with the fact that it’s overlapping that bottom tree by a little bit, but not a lot. If the type were in a different spot, I think the design would flow a lot better, since the white space on the shirt would flow from the bottom left, up through the middle between the trees, and up to the top right.
I am an educated graphic designer with experience in the field, and I dont like to be put down by a student. I put everything in its place for a reason, not just because. For me, the correlation is very understandable. The branches represent words, words that grow and grow, and some words/branches that are not needed in life. If you dont get that that is too bad. Some people may not like my designs, and that is fine, but I dont know of anyone who would ever be as rude to a fellow graphic designer as you are.
“How dare you criticize my work! It is perfect and amazing and beautiful and if you don’t get it then you’re a sad sot! Besides, I am older than you, so neener neener.”
I agree, TheTank. This shirt is gorgeous, it really speaks to me! I’m really diggin’ the deep metaphors behind the design. Keep up the good work, champ!
