I think the lightning branching out at the top before hitting the creature ruins the design, imo it would look better with a small bolt going down to its victim then, BOOM it hits and branching out from there.
I would definitely like it better with a side placement. Also, maybe the lightning coming down from the neck / shoulder area? I think you’ve done a good job with the lightning illustration.
