I approached this with the thought in my mind of the shirt as a canvas and an all over scene. I have always wanted to do WWII planes fighting in the sky and this was the perfect opportunity. I wanted to push the limits of what is okay for a shirt.
The style is typically comic book and I looked at HEAPS of reference material and was inspired by a few artists (roy lichtenstein hehe) and opted to combine initial sketches with illustrator trace and some watercolour and normal colour additions. I wanted to use as many mediums as I could in making it.
It also works on every single DBH shirt colour except black.. which is coincidental I assure you!
