The golden ratio dates back to at least the Renaissance, and perhaps before Christ. It has been use by countless artists, architects and designers to create pleasing compositions.
Has it been put on a shirt already? If not is should be.

This is an excellent idea and not one I’ve seen done aesthetically for quite some time. However, I don’t think it is enough to merely present the golden ratio as a simple diagram as you have done here. Rather, I think it need be realized, well, aesthetically! How you would do that is completely up to you and your expressive desires. This simple diagrammatic representation, though, is suited all but exclusively for math geeks—and I’d put money that it has indeed already been put on a t-shirt in this form for (and perhaps by) that particular demographic.

Incidentally, the first time I saw this realized aesthetically was in an episode of the old PBS children’s math show SquareOne TV: there was a painting that had all the different sections colored differently. I believe, however, that the spiral might have been absent in that depiction.

Really, though, work with the idea and realize it aesthetically as t-shirt design like no one has done before, because it has much potential for awesomeness! :]

Dude.
Vetruvian scale is awesome.
I would totally buy this, but I don’t think that a lot of the people here are art history nerds like myself, and therefore don’t quite get it.

Thanks for your input, I know how you feel because I had many of the same thoughts about this design. I waited a few weeks to submit it while thinking of what I could ad to it. But really wanted just the bare bones and everything I added didnt feel right. As you say, its just a diagram, and thats what I wanted.
As for being only suitable to math geeks, I disagree. Its much more than just a math formula, it has been use by many many artists, architects, book makers, designers, etc. For me it symbolizes the creative process of making art.
