This band has the potential to be one of the greats of our generation. Inspired by another great band, this t-shirt is simple and classic. Much like KoL’s music. It is a shirt anyone can wear, but only those of us who are huge fans will understand what the combination of those four names really means.

yea the original i made looked pretty legit, the colors were vibrant and everything. maybe it was too high of a resolution and so it downgraded. oh well the main concept is there though. thanks you two! :]
Thanks Studio! I wanted something that was practical yet made a statement. Also something that wouldn’t be dated after a while.
yeah simple helvetica+color combination.but as you mentioned fans will recognize it.but maybe you can add a little reminder of kol.maybe a little logo on back or bottom side of the tee.but its just my opinion.voted tho +1 ;)

Nice stuff! I actually printed a shirt like this on my own featuring the names of members of another band. I love how you actually have to be a fan to even have the slightest idea of what it represents :P! Voted.

or you can add hand drawn crown after jared or before caleb name..

Yeah I’m with Mikor. It’s a stretch even if it’s intention is a homage, with no credit or subtle mention of Experimental Jetset, I can’t vote for this nor can I recommend anyone else does.
Like I told Mikor. I researched this design and a lot of people continue to use that shirt as inspiration for other shirts. The link above doesn’t condone or condemn those who are inspired to create their own t-shirt using it as inspiration. I had no idea where the design originated from, which is why I didn’t give credit to anyone except to the band that inspired it.
My fault for not being specific that the band implied in the description is referencing the Beatles.
However, I still stand by my concept to put this band on a t-shirt.
To be honest with you as well, a lot of people do not even know what shirt it is referencing, they just like it.
I guess a good shirt is a controversial one.
This shirt is a total rip off. My sister has the same shirt for Fall out boy.

The concept: An homage to the Beatles, I consider these guys to be one of the most important bands of our generation. However, let me be clear, no one will ever touch the importance of the Beatles.
The Statement: I want to keep it simple. A lot of the other artists take a different approach. Some take a literal approach to the name, some use recent and not so recent photos and alter them, some used the music to inspire them. I wanted mine to say something different than the rest. While still using a classic design. I have been a long time fan of this band and many fans know that each person as individuals is essential to the success of the band as a whole. That goes with any band, not just Kings of Leon.
So, for your consideration, a simple design, a complex meaning, and an inspired tee that goes beneath the surface of image, and busy design, and just presents Kings of Leon as they really are. Caleb& Matthew& Nathan & Jared.
ahhh yes, homage to The Beatles ;) I actually have a shirt with the classic John&Paul& George& Ringo on it! So this was a fun choice!

What a fantastic design. It’s very simple, is one for the fans and people who don’t like wearing “band” t-shirts (ie with photos) will like it too.

haha – there are shops in Australia that just print this design with whoevers name you want on it – be it friends, family or even a band you like… my point being that why would someone pay you for this when it so commercially viable without the need for hiring artists or partners like DBH?
hey Kings Of leon are in Australia now and my girls brother is their tour manager maybe i should just suggest this idea to them…
that’s probably why part of me likes you – the idea is good and any member of the band could just walk into a shop and get one made up yet it would have taken you no time to serve as the middle man… if someone is gonna get paid why not you?

You shouldn’t win tickets, 1,750$ and autographs for writing names on a tshirt and especially for an idea that doesn’t belong to you!!!!!!!!!!
DUde u need learn how to market the logo a lot better!!! great design though… but the music needs to be a bit more marketable and thats what they want in the design… but great work : )
this isn’t good at all if you want to see a real design you know some one that doesn’t copy the beatles design since im wearing the same shirt right now with different names

Like I said, I never said this was my original design. However, the decision to do it with the kings, the order of the names, the color, and everything else is my own. It hasn’t been done yet with the Kings.
Honestly, a lot of these other designs are inspired by everything else. A lot of these shirts have a lion or a crown or some other common item on the shirt. Should those be called copy cats as well?

i have this very same t shirt. i made it 3 years ago for a kings gig. but its a rip off and shouldnt be rewarded for its lack of creativity. the votes look sus, especially how the execution and layout is way out. if you’d of done it properly then you should of paid more attention to your leading and kerning. its hard to get Helvetica wrong but you’ve done a great job. its offending me
I must agree with some people on this thread. While I won’t go into the debate of “is it a rip-off” (which could be said of a lot of t-shirts who are heavily inspired by already existing designs or trends), I do think it’s important to point out your inspiration and not simply go with the “controversy is good” statement.
As already said, a lot of shops and shirts already use the “4names+helvetica left aligned tight spacing”, but to say this is an homage of any sort might be stretching it a little, don’t you think?
Inspiring yourself from such a simple design could lead to a lot of variations, one of them being colour that could change from a name to another. Orientation, scale, pictograms or complete illustration. Why not try with other well known fonts that could recall the style of Kings of Leon? Helvetica sure is used a lot, is it a reason to use it again?
There’s also a fine line between simple and simplistic. Will I do have a smile looking at it, I doubt it really is that appropriate.

Yeah, which is part of the reason why I like it. Its classic and simple….and I don’t think every single person will know exactly who this band is when they read it because they aren’t as massive as the bands you listed.
i think people are reading into this a bit too much, the author obviously knows about the beatles t-shirt before they made this. you could even go as far as saying its delibrately un-original. if printed, people will recognize this tee shirt as a beatles tee, however on second look they will see that it as different names, which will spark interest as to why it has different names. in terms of marketing its extremely strong, i agree that its probally not the best tool for getting the kings of leon name out, but in all honestly most people who have a slight idea about music will at least know the names of a few of the band members, which they will be able to relate to, i think its subtle but effective. sorry bout the essay!
