Very nice composition. I’m guilty of this too, but the CMYK trend is starting to run its course. I could very easily visualize this as a tee in a store, but in the context of this contest I don’t get the “design a difference” theme in this design.
The difference is simple. What’s a surfer’s biggest fear? A shark attack. So wearing a shark attack/Quicksilver T is almost paradoxical. Like a Hippy wearing a shirt that supports the war. Setup85 rocks my socks.

This designer’s obvious skill is not the issue. It’s not a question of whether or not it’s inherently a good design, it IS a good design, it’s a question of whether or not it makes sense as a tee for a specific charity. Concept and execution are both important.
“Designing a Difference” is entitled so because it stands for designing a t-shirt that will be able to sell in order to generate funds for a specific charity. They are not donating a million shirts to the poor, the proceeds are what’s going to Tony Hawk’s charity. Browse around the site and find me another shirt that has a more clearly designed concept and I will withdraw my argument.
I’m not asking you to withdraw your argument. Discussion is what improves all things, including ourselves. From what I’ve seen I think collisiontheory has, so far, best captured the idea of this contest. It conceptually fits down to the title. Admittedly I’ve not seen all the designs yet, so there may be others. There’s also a lot of time yet left in the contest, so I’m certain other great work is on the way as well. The tougher the competition the better all our work becomes.
