check out my first work, i’d like an opinion.
this is sick!! great use of forms and colours! really corporate for QS and a very unique style! PRINT!!!
By itself it’s an interesting design, but I don’t think it applies very well to the Quicksilver contest. This is a problem I see with a lot of the Quicksilver designs. The company is giving profits to the Tony Hawk foundation to build skate parks in needy neighborhoods. That’s a big deal, and I don’t read any of that from this tee. It seems more morose than empowering.
the post above is a little confusing, what exactly was the point you were trying to make?, by all means, what empowers people is a rather subjective matter…. but whatever point that was: I think it is a smart design that can be interpreted in many different ways and if it needs to be empowering I could find at least two interpretations for it, that is the beauty of this design…that it can be empowering if you set your mind to it….
In terms of pure aesthetics I think the design works well. The composition uses the space in a pleasing way and there’s a nice balance. I don’t think the concept is there. The thing is, I feel you could interchange the Quicksilver logo with any apparel logo here and the design would work just as well. That’s fine if this was just part of a generic clothing line, but there is purpose to this contest. And I don’t read a unifying purpose in this design.
Sure you can interpret the design in many different ways, but the very point of art is to communicate ideas. If there is no perceivable concept, then the design is unsuccessful in some way (unless the point of the design is to be confusing). I think from what I’ve seen collisiontheory has so far done the best job of aligning with the contest theme.
this rocks! my only beef would be to do away with the straight box edges and fade it or push it to the side seams of the shirt…awesome bro! +
Nice one mate. Let us gather under the flag of Quiksilver and sing your praises, for the contest is won to the JCW! lol ^1
