very, very cool
very different concept, it has great depth. would have been stronger if there was a way to move bane and batman to the top of the shirt
Very nice, I like it
nice concept and painting + 1
Very nice execution.
thank you everyone for the votes and constructive comments
I like the colors in your shirt =)
Cool. I like the name rhyme as well
Great Job on the painting. I suggest adding more drama by making the city less colorful and maybe more subdued in the background. The main characters should be place higher or centered so it can be the main focal point. I also suggest to exaggerate Banes Neck and shoulder muscles to make him appear stronger.
@alchris Thank you for your feedback. I realized its a mistake of how I interpreted Gotham, it should be dark and gloomy. I also agree that the main characters will stand out more if i re-position them. Frankly, i intended to do 2 designs but it was so close to the deadline that i thought i wouldnt even have enough time to finish this one. I was rushing so the work didnt turn out that successful in terms of the theme and colors.
Minhquach, I can tell you put a lot of effort and you really apreciate honest critique, so I’m gonna give it with candor and respect. The rendering is very detailed and I can tell a lot of attention has gone into it, the attention to the detail in bane, the broken wall and specially the City’s perspective is commendable.
Your take on the “break” theme of the movie is very unique and I havent seen it in any other, conceptually that is a great element but I think the rest of the elements dont come together….what was your idea with batman as (what appears to be) a painting on a black wall, and the dark and Bane in the daylight Gotham? is batman not really real to the city, therefore a painting? why is Bane in daylight, is he bringing some revelation symbolized by light?
For the concept and the medium you chose I think the colors look a bit too “out of the tubes” mostly bright primaries and secondaries. That’s probably what makes batman look painted on the wall and Bane sort of looks like he’s in a really happy go lucky city.
I dont know that you should have washed it out to monochrome like most of the other entries, but I feel like it still lacks the atmosphere of something where you had chosen colors for specific reasons.
Ok, I think that’s all the critique I can honestly give, I dont mean to say that my design is better or anything, personally I fell way way short of the concept I wanted to do, but I saw there was a lot of effort in this so I thought I’d give as much useful comments as I could. Not voting for you because I’m only voting for those I adopted the arbitrary policy of only voting for those that truly feel are the best of the bunch and I want to be the ones that get to be seen by Chris Nolan :p (that probably means I wouldnt vote for mine either XD) Still I admire the work put into this and I commend you for your work and your original ideas, cheers =)
@Conzeit Thank you Conzeit for noticing the details and the hard work i put into it. Frankly, yours is the kind of comment that Im looking for.
About the design, most of the ideas I have are from the trailer I watched, and it didnt show much unfortunately. I saw Gotham city falls into chaos under the Bane’s cruelty and Bane, different from other villains, has no fear to appear in public. Batman has always been in the dark and he needs no credit for all the work he does for Gotham. However, one scene from the trailer I watched revealing Batman fighting Bain in public during daylight! This gave me the idea that the dark wall that Batman’s been behind is breaking and he has to show up himself in daylight to resolve the issue. My ideas are actually come from my guesses as well since I havent seen the movie yet. And my interpretation of Gotham is totally against the Dark Knight’s theme due to the use of colors T.T
I appreciate that you take your time to check out my work and leave such wonderful comment. Thank you. Wish you and me best luck in this contest.
hi! I already commented and voted your design… look on page 1. good job on colors and concept…
@tomapart: oh, i apologize for not noticing. Thank you for your vote and comment :)
This is serious work .I’m new on DBH , not sure if the can print this.Perhaps with DTG printers.Anyway it looks great, deserves a +1 :)
An original concept. Computer art is my media but I am in awe of anyone who can weild a brush. Other than the city lighting which I feel needs to be darker I cannot make any other comment. gl
my only advise for you is be true to your own aesthetic. try to understand your own brush strokes and discover the reason why you choose what you choose to do.. be one with your art-everything else doesnt matter. including other people’s opinions of what you do.
Commendable style and workmanship. The Bane portion of the painting reads a little too positive, but good work non-the-less.
