I wanted to reinterpret the natural effect of light as it passes through a prism. Added my own twist with a burst of colors instead of just straight lines. I have 2 options for the placement utilizing the front and back of the shirt.
This is obviously also inspired by Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon album cover. Just don’t tell me this is a rip =)haha

yeah I get it that you are saying it is inspired by dark side of the moon and not just basically copied, but to me it is so similar that there really isnt anything new about it.
congrats on the print though, just because I don’t see the newness of it dosen’t neccassarily mean it isnt I guess.
well it wont let me put a link in this comment box, but what i did was took the mona lisa, revised it a little and added splatters to it.
does that make it a new design?
seriously though, i wanted that ‘burst of color’ effect on the prism instead of the normal rainbow coming out. i guess that wasn’t so obvious? if you’re questioning the use of the imagery, it’s pretty much public domain so it’s cool.
if you say its cool, then its cool. haha
i just think that most kids have no idea where that original art came from.
of course we know where it came from man ;) you could look at it like an homage

if you check out wikipedia for dark side of the moon and then click on the album cover, you will see that is is very much NOT public domain, but what do i know?
listen, i think you are a good graphic artist, and i think you are a good designer and everything, but this one in particular is just plainly and simply not original.
I am a big pink floyd fan, or their music and the artwork that is on their packaging, so that is the only reason i am commenting in the first place. enough said from me.
ah but dude pink floyd doesn’t own the rights to the refracting prism. they just borrowed that from science. use google images for “prism”. people just think pink floyd came up with the imagery but it’s really just a natural phenomenon. now if i took the exact same image from the album and put that on the shirt then that’s a different story.
yeah people need to get over the whole pink floyd thing. The prism is a concept of it’s own, I mean IT’S SCIENCE COME ON! That shit is in your high school text book. This is a good shirt sir congrats

Heyheyhey… No need for insults here, maluse. this is a creation of its own, I never heard of copyright on rainbow colours and triangles and it is not that similar to that Pink Floyd cover at all… it only adapts its aesthetic and is therefore an hommage, basta:)

The light in your design is refracting completely differently than that in the album cover by Hipgnosis. Actually, now that I think about it then (and this is not meant as a critique at all), isn’t the light refracting in the ‘wrong’ direction in your design? Did you use anything to reference how the light refracts, or did you just pick an angle?
i agree with tomburns, it’s alright, but this isnt your art, you added some gomedia splatters… congrats though i guess

Seriously. The reason this shirt is successful is because it takes a well known image/idea and adds to it to evolve it into a new concept. This is done all the fucking time. Fucking Magritte. Warhol. Banksy. For crying out loud people get out of your bedrooms of your parents house and you might look beyond your pink floyd posters. Watch this shirt is going to be a great seller!

when most people see this shirt they dont think of prisms and triangles, they think of pink floyd. they dont say “gee this design has no copyrights, therefore it’s original”. ipso facto people think you ripped off pink floyd. the fact that you said “Just don’t tell me this is a rip =)haha” for the shirt’s comments makes it even worse. and jayna, i dont even like pink floyd, im just saying that this is uninspired and unoriginal. “viva la revolucion” what image comes to mind? exactly.
oh boy… regardless of what others say this designs kicks ass! btw Andy Warhol totally ripped cambell’s tomato soup can art… soon as i get some extra dough im coppin this
It’s not a bit deal to me that the artist was inspired by Pink Floyd. They even stated that. It’s neat that you made the idea your own, grats. : ) I don’t know if I can buy it right now but maybe sometime!
