I wanted to reinterpret the natural effect of light as it passes through a prism. Added my own twist with a burst of colors instead of just straight lines. I have 2 options for the placement utilizing the front and back of the shirt.
This is obviously also inspired by Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon album cover. Just don’t tell me this is a rip =)haha

I really think it’s wrong to someone get $750 to do this simple job that anyone can do.

go the one on the right, because i wouldnt want that fluro near my face. it looks more interesting as well. the comment about it looking 90’s (or ‘new rave’ which is only just over) is in relation to the use of fluro, which usually i hate. i like this tho. (im only critisisng this cuz i love Pink Floyd). one up +1

First placement is better, i wouldn’t wear it because i’m not a pink floyd fan but it’s nice
The only thing that bothers me about this is that you say you reinterpreted the natural prism effect without just straight lines. But, for me, the straight lines are too easily recognisable below the splatters. To me it would have been a lot stronger if you’d worked the colours into a more fluid pattern, and not just put splatters over flat blocks of colour.
Just my opinion, but I really think this would have been stronger with more work.
Good point anushka but I didn’t want to totally lose the shapes of the flat blocks of color. I wanted to keep the rainbow blocks in tact so you’ll know it’s still the effect of light passing through a prism. I just added the splatters from the base going up to make it look more of an explosion of color. But anyhow, I’ll prob still add some more detail on the base to make it more seamless. =) Thanks for the input.

Right, that’s fucking it. This takes the biscuit. THAT is Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon. Nevermind about it being ‘Pink Floyd-ish’, it IS Pink Floyd. Total rip-off.

amurphy – I don’t think so. The cover of The Dark Side of the Moon used an already well-known illustration of light coming though a prism. The motif is kinda public domain. Just try to google image search for ‘prism’.
alright considering it usually takes about a month for them to decide on really cool designs, i say around june 15th this gets printed.
I WANT THIS TO PRINT SO BAD! i mean, idk, i’ve seen it before BUT I STILL LOVE IT! really nice. and to me, i like the color work on the front better than on the back. KUDOSKUDOS! MAKE PEOPLE VOTE so this gets printed haha!
I didn’t know pink floyd started a t-shirt contest on DBH. Have all good ideas been used, that we need to remake famous images? I’m not trying to knock it. Just i’m tired of the lack of creativity on this site.
Well pink floyd remade this prism image too so does that mean they have no creativity whatsoever?
Execpt pink floyd dark side of the moon prism accompanies amzaing music.The album cover ties in with the whole piece.This is just an honest bite that is profiting off of the experience of pink flody’s music. Is it good? 177 people seem to think so. I honestly agree with William4Suo.
collisiontheory i agree with what is said. I like the design but it does appear to be profiting on Pink Floyd’s iconic album cover. It is not a tribute but a remake. I think the idea could be pushed further.
So you’re saying because floyd came out with an amazing album makes it ok to remake an image? I should probably start a band and sell a bazillion copies so I could justify this tee. I still don’t think it’s a bite at all. Plus I don’t think all the people who voted for this voted because it’s ‘pink floydish’.
The prism is associated with Pink Floyd and you have admitied this is a tribute to Pink Floyd. Look man it’s cool, it’s a bite and you’re probaley gonna win 750 dollars. Just don’t act like this is original or creative.
Oh well I guess you’re entitled to an opinion. I still think it’s pretty fresh and creative. I’d love to see what you think is original and creative so I could learn a thing or two from you.
Yeah I have a fresh idea for a design for you! You could take the beatles and place serveal famous people behind them and title it Sgt Peppers Recycled Design! Man it’ll get hundreds of votes! So fresh and so damn creative!
Funny you mentioned that because there is a shirt with the Sgt Pepper’s album pose and it’s all John Malkovich instead of the beatles and other people. I thought that was ‘fresh and damn creative’!
voted… i love it. Sure I can see the connection people would make between this and the album, but I dont think anyone wearing it would wear it to support pink floyd, nor would I make the assumption that anyone wearing it would be a pink floyd fan. Its a modern take on a classic piece. I like it.
I don’t feel like its a rip at all – it’s just an effing prism. Floyd used it, so it is tied into their iconism. However, look up any prism schematic and you’ll find something similar. I think it’s a pretty fresh take on it, and it would look damn good printed.
Not a rip on Floyd, more of a tribute. Also, I agree with the color on the back. Seems to lead the eye more.
