Q: From the very beginning of the contest your design gathered many votes and lots of attention, did you strategically enter the contest early? How did you promote your design?

A: I would say, Yes. This is Batman, and as cheesy as it may sound I love Batman! That's the reason I was too excited to submit my entry the first day I saw the contest.
Regarding the votes; honestly, I didn't expect to get high numbers of votes on the first day alone. I'm glad a lot of people appreciate my style. Facebook, Twitter and my link to Tumblr and Behance account are where I promote all my works.

Q: You have a very unique style to your work, how did you differ your approach to this particular contest?

A: Thank you. These are very inspiring words. For me, I set my mind to be different from others. I want to be original. I do have some comic artist Inspirations but as much as possible I'm trying to shy away from their style so I work freely based on my own style and because this is a worldwide competition, I don't want them to see my style related to other comics artists'. Comics have a HUGE fan base. You cannot escape from their discriminating and scrutinizing eyes. And I knew this was going to be tough competition, especially when I am competing with a lot of talented artists around the world. So to be different to others is a great advantage.

Q: Most contestants went with a black T-shirt blank but you choose a light canvas for your art, why was that

A: Because for me, with a light canvas you can see all the details or maybe it only works for my style hahaha

Q: You captured the movement of Batman and the aggression of Bane very well, did you want to convey movement from the beginning of the design process or did it just happen as your design developed?

A: I think it just happened. It was not intentional, at all. I just started to play around with my design with just Batman and Bane in my head and this was the result.

Q: You have a huge fan base, how does an artist go about gathering such a posse of admirers?

A: I'm really thankful and so happy at the same time. Flattered maybe because people are starting to recognize my work, as well as my style. Facebook, Twitter and my link to Tumblr and Behance account are where I promote all my works.

Q: Can you tell us how you work on a design like this, what is your process?

A: I think my process is so simple. I grab my pencil and do some layout sketches. Sometimes I do rough sketch directly in Photoshop. I set up all the brushes I need and using lasso tool and transform. I start to get the shadow area to apply my brushes then freehand for extra line or details. The rest of the effects are by applying the brushes then distorting it where I want to place it.

Q: Will you be wearing your design when you go and see the movie?

A: Of course I will. I'm really excited!

Q: Which other design in the contest caught your eye and you felt was maybe your fiercest competitor?

A: Whew that's a tough question...hmmm I think there's a lot to choose from. Especially with the works of most printed designers here in DBH and my other FOTAH group members. One that caught my eye was:
A Dark Knight Rise by nosmallvictories, it's a fresh style.

Q: What do you plan on doing with your winnings?

A: I am planning to save some for my kids schooling and buy a new, powerful computer. If I got a chance to go back to Philippines, I will celebrate with my wife and my kids and close friends.

Q: Finally, If you got the chance to design for Warner Brothers again, which of the Batman characters would you most like to create a design for?

A: Wow...*fingers crossed* I think I will go for Batman vs Ra's al Ghul or Batman vs Scarecrow.
