Shirt of the Month - August 2, 2009
Deep Creature

About the Artist
missmonster has 11 designs in the running. This is the 4th winning design for missmonster.
Overly detailed tentacles are my favorite thing to draw. I thought they’d look really cool printed huge on a shirt and DBH knows how to do the best fancy printing so i couldn’t resist a slight wrap around. I’d love it if the green ink could have a little glossy sheen to it, too. I want to wear this!

check out my design mate and feel free to comment
I’d so wear this! tentacles for the win! that green is like one of the most awesome colors anyway xD
Theres some kinda problem with the image in the voting gallery, its not displayed, but as soon as i read that this awesome piece was from the ass kicking style of missmonster i knew it couldnt be wrong, as always, sick style and coloring, amazing detail on and interesting placement, as always, voting and supporting your unique artwork….have a look at mine, throw me a piece of your mind if you like, would truly apreciate it..peace..
Please make this glow-in-the-dark. I would buy and wear it, regardless of the mass amount of black shirts I have and how hard I am trying to not buy any more black shirts
i signed up just to vote for this 8D
heh..now time to look at your other cool things :3
Sweeeet, thanks guys! I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this gets enough votes. I want to wear it so freaking BAD.
Great linework. The big outline works for me
Tentacles are cool :P
some shine would be great like you said.
+1
check mine ;)
I’m not a fan of green on black for clothing, but I voted anyway, since the design is really freaking awesome.
i think the green looks great on the dark tee. good job on the detail of the tentacles. i don’t know what it is, but octupus’ and tentacles are just one of those symbolic badass things, haha! you have my vote. and is that a brush you used? is it one of the photoshop…like, brushstroke brushes? wet media i guess?
If it had been printed on black, it would have been a instant purchase. But all of a sudden I have a ton of blue tees. I love MissMonster’s work but the Demons must have decided I’m not worthy of owning one of her tees :-(
buyin’ it now, lovely MissMonster!
this will be two of yours within a week – great job!
Keep ’em coming!
To be honest, I wasn’t a fan of it while it was being voted on. I think the mock-up you had didn’t do it justice. But after seeing it printed now, I was completely wrong. I wish I would have voted for this one. And I actually like the navy color choice more than I do black. To me, it gives it more character. Definitely gonna pick this one up. :)

so what happened to change? – definitely says it’s printed on Navy.
Either way, I love it – just wondering.
I have been waiting for a rad octopus tee!… unfortunately im not a fan of waistband prints. awesome design though. congrats!
I would have bought this, but it seems they disregarded everything she requested….

They don’t have XL womens, that fact just makes me all sadface. :(
It’s really lame because I might’ve considered jumping on it while it still had the early bird discount, but they didn’t even bother to make it in the size I like.
This looks great! I love the color combos and the movement in the design! I may have to buy this one too… damn this site and it’s awesome T-shirts, it’s going to make me poor…
That’s jacked, men get the full sketch of the tentacles coiling around, and in the women’s version it stops at the seam? Rip off.
Ugh, do a side by side comparison of the profile view of men’s versus women’s. The women’s version looks like a factory mistake. Unfortunate.

Its not a printing defect. Its a difference in shirt sizes. On the men’s version, because the shirt is larger, it doesn’t wrap around to the back, like it does with the women’s version with it being a smaller shirt.
That’s cool. But I wouldn’t justify ruining artwork by blaming it on the shirt size instead of blaming it on DBH failing to scale the art properly.
We printed over the seam and it presented a significant problem with ink bunching up and collecting around the seam. With glow in the dark ink, it is already heavier hand.
We did the best we can, and this was the solution. We actually junked several dozen because of the ones we did print over the seam because of the heavy ink buildup.
I approved it as it is shown, and would do so again as it was the best answer to a printing solution that could not be solved with significantly altering art, or having a shirt without seams.
…Well that sucks.
Ladies built like linebackers don’t get any love? Thought about buying when the special was on, but I can’t fit in it.
What’s up with that :U
congrats on Shirt of the Week, missmonster!!
I liked this so much, I ordered a second one :)
Congrats on SotW
I was so thrilled that this was Glow-in-the-dark. It was amazing.
I’m also glad it’s on Navy rather than black (turned out looking nicer than I thought).
@stablercake: I’m on the same page with bigger sizes, but it’s just not the demographic of people looking for nice shirts unfortunately.
M3X FTW!
Love this shirt! Just bought it. Now that I see that it glows in the dark, I love it even more!
baah.. I’m kinda disappointed :P the teaser pic of this was SO vibrant, and even that previer ipc is cool.. But the actual shirt is kinda..blah. the green isin’t so bright I was expected and the glow in the dark is useles.. doesnt really glow. But I love design anyhow..
Aw, please print a women’s XL! The close cut of women’s is just too tight for me – and you’re out of L anyhow!
How come this doesn’t show up on the men’s page to buy? Technical issues going on? I mean it won for shirt of the month.!
Hey! This is the second DBH shirt I’ve bought (first was Dagnis’ stripes are fun) and I looooove it! Great job, I’m proud to have this in my wardrobe.

i know it sounds bad.. but thanks for making me feel a bit better about not ordering this one.

HAHA way to tell everyone how it is and that you you run this place with an Iron Fist LOL. j/k I think you guys do a great job with printing the awesome shirts keep up the great work!
I wanted this one and BeeryMethod’s “Octo Coal” but “Deep Creature” was sold out. Please print more so I can buy.
Can you please please PLEASE print some more of these? It is an awesome design, plus the glow-in the dark just makes it even more incredible!
Hey JUST in case people are actually reading this: PLEASE don’t email me asking about a reprint. I have zero say in reprints. I don’t work for DBH.
It would be far, far more effective to just contact DBH directly and ask since they are the ones that actually make the shirt. Here, i will make it easy for you: service@designbyhumans.comThank you. Glad people like the shirt. I hope it reprints too! :)

cool! maybe use a different color combination but I like it… voted
