About the Artist
dagnis has 35 designs in the running. This is the 1st winning design for dagnis.
Trying out different designs with stripes I finally came up with one I’d love to wear myself. Now I have brought it to your judgement, too.
Placement was more important for this design than the actual stripes so I decided to mix the order of the images.
To the several persons out there who love to spam around my designs – please, ignore it if you don’t like it. Let’s be grownups here.

I like the way it flows. I don’t like the teal-ish colors, but that’s just a personal preference.
as someone asked about the wrap-around — i’m not sure they can do it if the print is already full front size. i’m quite sure they can’t actually. however, if it turned out they can — i wouldn’t have any technical problems to go with a wrap-around.
Pretty cool design. Best use of lines i’ve seen in a while. like the shirt color choice as well. good work
The simplicity makes it great, the colors make it better, the artist makes it unique. My only suggestion is I would have the background color something deeper and more solidified to contrast with the thin lines.
i normally don’t like huge prints that cover the entire lower portion of the shirt, but in this case, coz it’s strands, it kinda lightens it up a bit, and i kinda like this one..got my vote!
this better win. so much better than all that cartoon junk that people put on here.
Print it already, please. The design is pure and simple. How can you hate something as elegant as this in comparison to all the cartoon-ish stuff that dominates the submissions.

how it got so many votes is a mystery that i expect only you know the answer to.
a shirt sometimes is perfect with nothing at all on it. start thinking from that point of reference and you might come to the answer to your question on your own
sometimes people just wanna wear classics, or nuthin on it but nice colours, and stripes for that matter. Like me. And I can wear all sorts of jewellery with this. Layers and layers of chunky necklaces in all colours. This is how I plan to wear your top, Dagnis.

I wish DBH could tell us the process on printing this so we can adjust how we design!
must agree with collisiontheory. it would be a lot easier to work on new designs if we knew for sure when we are making it unnecessary difficult to print and when we are wasting the technical possibilities by not going into things that could actually be printed quite easy. would be so great if they could keep a small journal where they would post a few comments about every shirt printed. like what techniques they used, was the design easy to print, what made the price of the shirt go up, what made it difficult to print, what couldn’t be printed and so on. ANYWAY, thanks a lot DBH for printing this! i never believed this could be done until i actually saw it. You’re the REAL designers of this piece, for sure! and thanks to everybody who voted! i’m really excited about my first win. hope to post more designs soon.

well, this turned into a very pleasant surprise yesterday evening when i received a call from a friend while i was having dinner with a glass of wine and turned into a big hangover today

It’s not abt how difficult it is to do the illustration but how well it translates onto a tee.. design is deft subjective, like how i absolutely hate some of the other designs up on this site and they are definitely more intricate in terms of illustration.
It rocks to read all other kinds of comments apart from good ones! I shld do some designs of my own soon and subject myself to international scrutiny.
I can do this crap at home, just take a white tee and something to paint it.

Really like this shirt. Can tell you thought about what it would look like on someone’s body. Looks a little like a toga from a distance though.

it was hella sticky when i got it… but a quick wash made it all good. People were giving me compliments left and right today at school like “wow where did you get that” and “DANG dude that is amazing!” cant wait for another win from you.

I think the chant should start now… dagnis, dagnis, dagnis! It’s prolly the color choice dude. I think if it were say… pink and bright orange and colors that didnt flow as well as this it wouldn’t have won. You made it perfect in other words. I don’t know. Just an idea. Oh and the placement is perfect as well. And it’s fresh. You never see something like this around town. Ever… at least in Boise. I bet I am the only person where I live with this shirt. Super unique. I just brown nosed to hard… hahaha. keep up the great work man.

Just bought this a few days ago, since I just found this site.
I like this shirt, simple cool design. But shirt of the month? says who?
i’ve always found it interesting that some people think that this is an illustration competition here not a shirt design competition. design and illustration are two completely separate things. a great illustration not always is a good product design and a great product design is rarely an advanced illustration. so it’s frustrating that my works are being judged by criteria i’ve never tried to follow. i guess some people here believe that the best way to sell a bottle of pepsi would be to draw a mona lisa on it instead of just writing pepsi in a strong way that works. weird.
Don’t teach me what is the differences between illustration and design, im graduated and I know about that.
Its frustating to me to never been chosen since one of my works have similar questions as yours.
with that level of intelligence, you’re up for a life of constant unpleasant surprises.

wow!!! you are worshiped like a t-shirt god and when somebody expresses their tastes in their own questionable – maybe) manner you and your worshipers just want blood!!! well here I go for the total internet kill: “I do not like this shirt” there I said it, I do love your other stuff but this one I just don’t… the colors … the lines, sorry you can not implement some sort of a higher, guru knowledge of design and enforce it on people to like everything you do…so please deal with it, and the final word: overall hats down to your designing skills, just not to this outcome.

Once again….dbh has disappointed with the quality of their product. The print on this tee was defective and they still sent it over. It was so obvious, yet dbh had no qualms about sending it out. Wake up dbh, yeah you’re big now, but don’t leave the quality and customer service that got you here in the first place, behind.
Dude I really like this design, especially the colors you used… The color scheme you used looks a lot like the logo of the game Final Fantasy X, not sure if you played it but I thought that it may have given you some ideas :)

I have this shirt, it’s great. I wish some of the design went onto the back though.
Sick shirt, but I really wish the stripes would have extended to the back.
Shirt is cool but it looks like the pinned the shirt in the back in this picture to get it to look like that. I wear it a little less then my other DBH shirts. Some days it just feels like a bit too much.
The one i bought had some manufacturing faults on the top (it looked a little bit like on the 3rd picture, but worse)and was all sticky (beeuuaaah). I saw other people got the same printing problem. It’s a shame for a so beautiful design being waste like that. I don’t care about the fact it was sticky (one wash is enough to solve it), but i think the two problems are related because all this glue caused pleats that might have created the defects.
So i am very disappointed and i won’t take the risk to buy it again until we know for sure that it has been properly reprinted.

it’s funny that my beach volley coach this summer was from california and i gave him a copy of this. the poor shirt had traveled all this way to latvia just to return to CA a couple of months later

I bought this, it’s my first t-shirt from DBH. Wearing it now, I love it!
I just WISH it had been pure white background, it’s really annoying because it looked white in the picture. And I wish the stripes went all the way around – it’s kind of weird having them just stop. So I don’t think it’s as good in actuality as it is on the screen.
That being said, it’s still really cool and I never like new shirts at first. Great job regardless!

It actually says “Light Yellow DBH Perfect Tee” in very small lettering just above the size picker. :)
But, yeah, I agree that the confusion might be disappointing and I now regret a bit that I advised for the “yellow snow” tee when submitting this.
I’d like to see this design printed on a completely white shirt if it gets another reprint someday in the future. Would make the design look cleaner. Well, what can you do.
I bought one for my sis and we got it in white… I think the DBH inventory is a bit loopy. A ordered a couple of other shirts in the same size and when I got them the sizes were all different.
It’s funny, I wore this again today at school. Usually we have to wear uniform, but today was a special day. People told me how much they liked it. I think the lighting in the room I opened it was a bit bad, because it looked a lot whiter when I was walking around outside. It almost reminds me of a toga, the way the lines stripe diagonally. This is undoubtedly my favourite shirt I own. Great job again.

Can someone clear something up for me. I recently purchased this tee and was disappointed when it arrived because it is on a yellow shirt, not a white one as shown in the picture. It’s partially my fault because i went by the picture and didnt read “light yellow” next to it.
So why would the picture show it on a white shirt if its getting printed on a yellow one? I know it is a reprint, so was it originally printed on white?
It looks amazing on white, but not so much on yellow. I mean this is no disrespect to the artist, because i think it looks brilliant on white.

I love all the controversy surrounding this shirt. I bought it for two very simple reasons: one, it is an original, beautiful piece of fabric art. Two, the degree of negativity in contrast with the positive comments posted in response to this shirt is not only astounding, it’s also refreshing, just like the shirt itself is. At the end of the day what you nay-sayers need to recognize is that Dagnis has constructed a product of art here, and whether you like it or hate it, he posted it because HE was confident in it. Whether you feel the need to bash him or not should be irrelevant, because either way, it means you have studied and reflected on what he has produced. He wins -

Hey guys, don’t worry about the yellowishness. I was really surprised when I bought it, and it looks a lot better in white, yes. But it’s mostly about the lighting. Under good lighting it’s practically white. I was annoyed when I first opened it, but I wear it all the time and the only time it looks yellow is in my small, light-starved bedroom.
I’ve been waiting for a while to purchase this shirt. I finally noticed it was in stock in my size and today they have a sale :D
