I run marathons, not because I'm good at it (I'm not) but because it hurts in the most beautiful way. At mile 21 or so, all I can think about is making the next mile, telephone pole or street sign. In these moments of pure physical pain my mind shuts off and all my worries and fears melt away and I'm left with the next step...and the one after that...and the one after that...
