Hi,
My design is in the running for the 10k contest, link here
I would really appreciate the votes or at the very least some comments on my work.
Thanks
Thanks for the vote. Let me try to explain myself in a different way. I work as a graphic designer for a living, if I have to design a website, I will incorporate the logo provided by the customer (like with special contests on DBH, I will incorporate the Fleetwood Mac or Quicksilver icon provided by DBH), but the bulk of my design needs to be MY own work taken from MY brain, that’s what I get paid for and that’s what these contests should be based on. If I take someone’s web design and just replace the logo, I will get fired or worse dragged into a lawsuit.
That broken chain on three of your compositions is a stock photo. Regardless of whether or not you purchased it, anyone with very basic Photoshop skills can grab a picture and put it on a shirt. You and all your followers will probably not appreciate my comments, but I just thought that DBH was all about real artists expressing real creativity, maybe I’m wrong.
Wow… you don’t use a pick? Hmmm… I finger pick, but I don’t think that I could give up picks. :)
Oh dude… I hope your wife gives the OK! Nothing like a new instrument. I’m like a kid in a candy store whenever I go into a music store… so I don’t go very often, otherwise I’d be in oodles of debt due to bringing 15 guitars home… or maybe a few amps home… especially since I need one. I only have a practice one right now. The thing is, if I buy an amp, I’ll want to buy the best quality one, which equals lots of $$$.
What amp do you play through?
Thanks much for voting on my tee, Demon. Much appreciated!!!
Thanks so much for voting again… I really appreciate it.
Yeah… Under the Blacklight is a fabulous album, I gotta say, my favorites are definitely Dreamworld and Close Call. SO GOOD.
Wow, you’ve been playing for quite some time yourself! AND you sound like you’re pretty good, too! That’s awesome! And you have that Rick Turner guitar… wow. I play a Breedlove acoustic that I bought about two years ago. It sounds like a mix between a Taylor and a Martin. LOVE IT.
Anywho…. yeah, check out An Horse. They are an acquired taste, that’s for sure, but very upbeat and happy-indie sounding.
Hey I just posted my second design here on DBH, for the Fleetwood Mac contest. I still don’t know a lot of people on here and with the new site I can’t figure out how to browse all artists…? If you wouldn’t mind swinging by and checking out my new design I’d appreciate it, and please feel free to give me some feedback and/or vote.
Thanks!
Oh… p.s. this is kinda sucky, but I had to resubmit my tee to the fleetwood contest since it wasn’t an RGB file…. SO… is there any way you can vote on it again (if you haven’t already)? I know, I know, I sound lame… I’m just oh so sad about my lost votes. :(
Awesome. Well, yeah, bands are hard to deal with… a lot of commitment involved.
As for me, I am a singer-songwriter. Along the lines of a Lisa Loeb or whatnot. I’m quite folky, yet my brother and I are trying to start up a different type of band. Something more indie rock… melodic, yet not too soft. I would love to do something like Rilo Kiley or Eisley. Don’t know if you’ve heard of them.
Hey… Have you heard of An Horse? They are one of my personal faves and quite close to your NZ (They are from Australia).
ANYWHO... how long have you played guitar? I’m going on about 12 years, but I’m still quite “rhythm, not lead” if you know what I mean. Don’t know a lot of riffs and scales, but prefer to write songs with my knowledge of chords. That type o’ thing.
Throwing someone under the bus isn’t just DBH’s job. Its everyone’s job.
People come on to these group sites to get compliments AND constructive criticism. That is how you become a better artist or designer. If you can’t handle the feedback, then its not the place for you. We should all be accountable for our own stuff, but also hold other people accountable to maintain some type of integrity and level of quality to what is submitted. The criticism becomes less constructive and more like a gang-up when you plagiarise, because that my naive friend, is truly wrong.
Thanks much, Demon! I dig your penguin on the wire design. Quite nifty! SO… you like playing music live, ay? You in a band? I’m quite the music nut, hehe…
Yes, well yours was the most obvious and I wasn’t even the first to notice. And you did it over and over again… I’m not trying to start a smear campaign, but really, if you didn’t do the work its just not right to take the credit.

You should do a fleetwood mac penguin design that incorporates some of the obama “change” style shirts based on the shepard fairey art.
These are hugely popular.
Better late than never.
