Sorry I take forever to reply… You definitely want to get an apprenticeship; with all the competition out there, no one will take you seriously just buying a do-it-at-home kit. I’ve heard they’re hard to come by; I was lucky, it just kind of fell into my lap. I designed my own chest piece that I got a few years ago, and the artist was so impressed with the design he offered me an apprenticeship. Your best bet would be to put together a portfolio of your best tattoo-adaptable designs, and just go to every tattoo shop you can and ask about it. You have to be able to sell your soul to them, so let them know how bad you want it, and that you would work your ass off to get it. That’s what they want to hear. Good luck. =)
