hi darling ^^ i made a shirt template for my submissions. photo of a real shirt, then i made a new layer with the shadows. between both layers i put the design layer. the shirt colur you can edit with colour layers. hope it helps :) chEErs.

haha i dont know man. im just learning myself. i took a digital photo class at my high school last year which has helped alot and my friends is a genius on photoshop. so, my advice,you can find a book like you were saying… but the best way to learn is just to play around on it.honestly. it takes patience but it is the most effective. but the book thing would help in telling you what stuff does.

check out Photoshop CS3 for Dummies on amazon(dot)com. might help
