No more shirt of the day discount?
Some people were saying they took it away for October because of the free shipping, but it’s November and it’s still not there!
bring it back!

exactly. I obviously don’t know the figures, but I’m sure discounting the SOTD drives sales up for the day it comes out. plus, it makes your customers happy!
PLEASE bring the daily discount back! I am far more likely to make that impulse buy if it’s marked down for a short amount of time. I think “oh man, I’d better decide because I don’t know when my next opportunity will be!” It’s simple psychology. Otherwise, I can easily justify not paying $20 for a t-shirt. Don’t worry, I’ll still buy a bunch of shirts when you have regular sales too = )

That’s how I feel too. I like today’s design but since I know its going to be $20 for a long time, I rather just wait for other designs to come out and see if I like them more.
Yeah, that would be cool. But I bought shirts regularly before they introduced the SOTD discount, so… I’ll be okay.
Check your email. I got this one today: USE COUPON CODE ‘TNQCQK’ FOR 10% OFF! It’s good until Nov 15th.
It’s not like I won’t buy shirts anymore, it’s just a good incentive like Tiny.Cue.Cards. and OolongTee-Yummy said. If it’s not discounted, I have no impulse to buy it that day cause it will be the same price from then on out.
I got the 10% off email too, but a $20 marked down to $15 (or $25 down to $20) is much better than 10% off. It’s 25% off and 20% off, respectively. 10% barely covers the tax = (
I agree with matt2kool. I’m much less likely to buy a shirt when it comes out without the discount. The 1 day sale makes me more impulsive, which I would think leads to more $$$ for DBH. Maybe their margins are getting too thin?

Good point and I agree. I have lessened my buying recently. I did buy some during the recent autumn sale so at least that was nice, but probably would’ve bought more if the prices were marked even lower.

Regardless, these are changes which must be made known to a community.
DBH, for quite a while, didn’t offer any discount on first day shirts. Fine and dandy. That’s their choice. But having offered it for so long now, you can’t simply make it disappear without letting the masses know why it’s gone. Is it a glitch? Is it done away with forever? If you’re going to do ANYTHING that will set you back from a customer standpoint (take away discounts/raise price, limit print methods, dramatically change a print from the original submission, change to a lesser quality shirt blank), you NEED to make it known ASAP, or you’re going to (deservedly) lose customer trust.
I’m hoping it’s just a glitch left over from the free shipping month. And also that if it is, it gets fixed faster than the glitch that makes it impossible to send “tell-a-friend” referrals.
Has anybody even tried emailing DBH and asking whats up? I’m guessing probably not.
Well said AdderXYU.
The daily discount on SOTD made me at least check the site out on a daily basis. What incentive do I have now?
Here, thought everyone might be interested. I emailed this:
Hello,
I (well, WE) were just wondering what happened to the Shirt of the Day Discount. We were under the impression that it would return starting in November, but only sad pandas rained down upon us.
Many good points have been brought up in a forum thread discussing this tradgedy (or, possibly glitch?): http://www.designbyhumans.com/forums/show/644195
To summarize:
1. It provides a strong incentive to visit the site every day
2. It encourages impulse buying
3. With no discount, there is no reason NOT to wait until later to buy a shirt, and by then some people will have changed their mind altogether
4. The lack of communication about this has made many members feel ignored/forgotten/tricked because there was no mention of it when free shipping ended (end of October). There was the implication that the SOTDD would return, but nothing. If this isn’t a glitch, PLEASE don’t treat us like dummy’s and pretend we didn’t notice.
Thank you for your time, I own several shirts and enjoy doing business with you.

And this is the reply I got:
Hi [Most Amazing Person Ever] < (I substituted this for the alias on my birth certificate),
Thanks for taking the time to email us your thoughts about our early bird discount on the shirt of the day. We really do appreciate and value feedback from our members and want to apologize for any confusion or lack of communication on our part.
To answer your question, when we launched the early bird special several months ago, we did it as an experiment to see how our customers would react and what the impact might be on sales. We are constantly thinking of new ideas and offers for our members with the intention of keeping things fresh and interesting. With that said, we are in a bit of a period of transition at the moment as we are undergoing an entire site redesign both in aesthetic and functionality. The good news is – there is some really cool stuff coming down the pipeline. The not so good news is that it is going to take several months. In the meantime, we will be introducing minor changes to the current site and occasionally offering various deals and discounts. So, to get back to the SOTD early bird discount, it may come back occasionally, but we do not have plans to make it a permanent deal on our site.
I’m sure that is not what you wanted to hear, but hopefully this gives you a little better insight as to what we have going on in our neck of the woods. Thanks again for being a part of DBH and for contributing to what DBH is today and what it will become in the near future!
All the best,
Jason

ya, it would definitely be well received. Or maybe other fun discounts, like maybe “Buy one, get the second (third/fourth) at a discounted rate”, or similar?
