Photoshop users question

I’m wondering something – I have Photoshop 7 and wanted to try out the CS one – would anybody know if the trial period would interfere with my current software? They’ve been known (on my end) to hijack some of my settings – such as program default openings. When I installed Illustrator, AI’s “Bridge” was and still is – always trying to get access to my folders) and I don’t want to have to redo everything
Thx..

As far as I know, it installs a separate application for the trial, and doesn’t overwrite any software that has been previously installed. But I’ve never had two versions installed at the same time so I couldn’t tell you for sure.

Same here, hence the post. My copy is a burn from a friend over 5 years ago and I’m chicken shit to try the trial. Let me ask then, is there a HUGE difference between the two? I’ve been looking online but I can’t see any difference except for some features I wouldn’t use to begin with. Am just wondering if CS has a higher quality effect with art or extra special brushes or something? I only use PS for painting & line art.

I find I can work much faster with each photoshop upgrade. Simple stuff like merging layers is a lot quicker. I can’t think of all the new stuff off the top of my head, but I know when I try to use earlier versions I feel really stifled.

I had CS and CS2 both on my computer, and they didn’t seem to interfere with each other.

I learned on Photoshop 7 in school and am using CS now. I never really noticed TOO much of a difference but I’m sure theres something.

There are many “correct” ways of saying that, and that wasn’t one of them.

sounds like your telling someone to go steal software. that’s not what your saying right? cause you know what the price for that is right?

I currently have cs3 and cs4 installed. They don’t interfere with each other. Besides opening a CS4 file in a CS3 program messes with things slightly.

Sounds exactly like what he’s saying – on a forum anybody can see, too…hmmm I am feeling kinda naughty. I can do some research and figure out where Apathy lives at then make some calls to Adobe Systems, Inc.
:p

I had no aversion to getting the “bootleg” I have now as the dude who gave it to me had lost the original to begin with and was upgrading regardless; but nope – not into torrents and all of the accompanying flashing ads with hoochie mama’s and all the virus’s running amok. If nothing else, it gets tiresome downloading something only to scan it and see you’ve been rickrolled.

I think you should call Adobe support.

I didn’t call them (and most tech software co’s) because most of them don’t know what they’re talking about and won’t admit to any possible glitches, even when you have a glitch and call to complain – they act like it’s your computer’s fault.

Adobe’s are actually quite knowledgeable (sp?) and even friendly.

software customer service thats knowledgeable and friendly – i thought that was an oxymoron. most companies do hire idiots for their service departments.

ill be honest though ive never needed to call adobe so all my previous experience has been with other companies… ugh dell was the worst, so was microsoft. so glad i switched to a mac cause apple has decent service and where i live theres apple stores everywhere and one open 24 hrs. but when i had my dell i wanted to go to india and fucking strangle the customer service rep.

Indeed.
The most idiotic tech reps I had were for Linksys wireless router AND AT&T broadband internet. I’m by no means a tech guru – but I knew more about the stuff than the AT&T techs did and after 5 idiots, I finally had one who admitted ignorance and told me there was a “level 3” tech support and gave me their number.
I hate it when they try to blame it on your computer – they assume everyone calling them doesn’t know the first thing about their own equipment.

ah..
update: just for kicks I decided to call and see and after being on hold for several minutes they wanted to know my name, rank, serial number (to coin a phrase) and a big hullabalo over one simple question which she answered like a skilled politician. In layman’s terms, “I dunno but if PS 7 winds up not working, buy our upgraded one!” woot!
phaugh.
so am just backing up all my stuff just in case. As I mentioned before – when I downloaded/installed Illustrator – it was seriously trying to hijack all my settings. I had to block it from accessing the net as well, as it runs in the bg and hogs my precious ram. lol
