I just want to ask how to delete designs finished for voting? thanks :D
You have to e-mail art@designbyhumans.com and ask to have it removed.

thanks bro!
can you guys wash the shirts once before sending them? i hate getting sticky shirts and not being able to wear them right away because of it.
Could you have the shirt of the week/month, once announced, reduced in price for that day as well? I think that would be a cool feature and added incentive to buy in case you missed the opportunity when it was sotd. idk if that would work but I hesitated on a couple of shirts and didn’t buy and then when they won sotw I started thinking about buying them again but haven’t. Maybe if the price was reduced again, like I mentioned, I may be influenced and reconsider to go ahead and buy.
when you order shirts, the “from” in the email says “operator”. It should say “Design by Humans”.

great idea. SOTW and SOTM should definitely be offered at the discounted rate.
I recently (5 hours ago) ordered 4 shirts. I have not received any sort of confirmation e-mail or news about the order (even when checking “My Account” on my user page). I also didn’t get an e-mail about successfully activating my account. Does anyone know why this might be the case?

Holliday weekend?

That’s what I thought too, they don’t work on week-ends and maybe it’s because of that. However I thought the confirmation emails were automatic, so I’m not sure.
Thanks for the incite. I suppose the strangest thing is that the charges have yet to show up on my card. :(
Yikes… No. I simply clicked “Place Order” and it took me back to the DBH Men’s page. I “bought” two more shirts that I wanted to double confirm that I was doing things correctly. It will be fun to see all these charges pop up soon… but I really just want my shirts! :)
I have the same thing,i order twice and when i clicked place order it took me back to the main page
Glad to hear I’m not the only one. I sent an e-mail to the operator e-mail address and received one uninformative reply, responded myself, and have yet to receive a second response. I hope you have better luck than I!
Flicking through the voting section, it occurs to me just how difficult it is to give the designs the attention they deserve. Currently there’s 95 pages of designs, which realistically is unfeasible to sort through. What would be nice is some kind of tagging system, so people can sort by hand drawn, cartoon, or else humour, abstract according to the artist.
A recommendation engine could also be interesting, giving us new designs by the people whose shirts we’ve previously brought or voted for.
Finally, having tabs for latest entries, popular etc would be nice.

There is no need for a latest entries tab since it’s already in chronological order. A “most popular” tabs would, in my opinion, make the popular entries more popular and the less-known ones even less known, so that would hinder even more their chances of, as you say, giving the designs the attention they deserve.
Also, if you like particular artists, you can add them to your favorites and could just check if they got new stuff.
DBH should edit the spelling and grammar… at the very least in the titles of winning shirts. Preferably in shirt descriptions too. Maybe in all shirt titles.
It’s been a while since I’ve spoken my ideas on this site but it always seems to come out the same. First thing first, i do like this forum directly linked to DBH rather then searching through the over-cluttered request forum. Now to the inquiries. I always have problems with the order sheet, specifically available payment options. Paypal, you would be led to believe for this company, would be a must, yet after approximately a year and a half of watching for this option I have seen no progress. I would like to think I speak for many when I ask for this option. Paypal, please. But if I am wrong let me be a fool. Secondly, designs simply “disappear” after they are sold out, you either need to know the artist of specific shirt name to ever find them again, or wait until the long overdue reprints are brought to attention via newsletter. There should be some type of “Sold Out” catalog WITH a request reprint button for popular demand because now you need to be absurdly ambitious or have a photographic memory to “rediscover” a shirt you wanted. If not a “Sold Out” catalog, then possibly leave the sold out prints in the complete shirt list with a “Sold Out” banner across the image, still the request reprint button is a must in this situation as well. All of these issues seem (no offense to the programmers and others who do tremendous work) a bit negligent to the functionality of the site. As a loyal Human I seem to find myself turned off slowly by the lack of progress. I WANT to support this site and company to keep them doing what they are, but because idle progress and clumsy functionality, it prevents me from placing an order, inadvertently hurting DBH. I truly enjoy this site, and have purchased many shirts and will do so again in the future, but at the moment the cons outweigh the pros. Lastly, more of a question then a suggestion, what happened to international free shipping for orders over $70? Why was it abolished? I can understand raising the minimum qualifying purchase but total removal? It seems like a step backwards. Now the hard working staff at DBH must understand that I did not intend to hurt any feelings or cause offense to them, I just wanted to speak my point.

I don’t own or program a t-shirt contest/store site, so I have no idea how hard or easy it is for them to quickly implement different changes, or what possible obstacles may be, but I give them the benefit of the doubt. If they weren’t diligent they wouldn’t even put a thread like this up, right?
Totally agree with your suggestions, but totally disagree about the cons outweighing the pros.
You’ve probably allready noticed that, but I can’t make my e-mail public :)

Re: Image File Size
I was looking for a few new shirts to buy on DBH today and I noticed that the zoomed in view of the t-shirt designs have incredibly long load times. Like 7 or 8 seconds. And that’s a long time when viewing 30 or 40 different designs, one after the other.
I looked at the images’ file sizes and they’re really big. The example I chose is a 783 kilobytes PNG image file.
https://www.www.designbyhumans.com/product_images/0000/9401/25890_Ecstasy_M_B_zoom.png
What’s surprising is that the file size isn’t this big in order to support a higher quality image. The same exact quality can be had with a JPG file, at 120 kilobytes.

The reason why (I think) PNG files are used instead of JPG files is because they support transparency. You can see a comparison between how the PNG looks (with transparency) and how the JPG looks (with a white background)
http://img37.imagefra.me/img/img37/2/9/19/f_e36m_556e648.jpg
Obviously, the transparent image looks much much better. It was something that really impressed me the first time I visited DBH — but I don’t think it’s worth file sizes six times greater than they could be. There’s a lot of wasted bandwidth for DBH in that extra 600 kilobytes for every image (which might might affect either costs for DBH or load times for users at high traffic time). And I’m especially concerned about the really long load times, which just create a pretty frustrating user experience.
Anyways, I just thought I’d mention this because I like DBH and I want it to be as good as it can be.
Thanks a lot for your time!

I see what you’re saying, I think I meant just have tabs to sort through the shirts, not necessarily the ones I mentioned, oibviously things that made sense. But for instance the newest shirts tab, when pressed twice, could show the oldest designs that might otherwise be about to slip away for instance.
I still think the tagging of shirts accroding to hand drawn, colours used or whatever could be good. Its only a minute more for designers and it could help them get their designs chosen. The code already exists for the shop so I imagine it could just be copied over?

If you want to see the oldest shirts, click on the last page. You don’t even have to click the pages one by one, the link for last page is already visible.
I might just sound like I’m trying to argue, but I just can’t think of a good enough reason to implement this tabbing process.
I don’t see how hand-drawn, colors used or other stuff would be useful for making stuff picked or voted on. In any case many designs have different colors options; in which color category would they put them? What about mixed media? It sounds like it could help DBH to keep their variety of techniques and colors used, but I don’t think it actually would help them; if DBH wants to print, for example, 4 blue designs, they can just postpone some of them by a few days, or even weeks, I doubt there’s any rush once they have been chosen.
A “in thread” search feature would be cool for the forums. Especially for big threads like this.
One other thing I must suggest, when you go to the voting section and click “My Picks” when you aren’t logged in, nothing happens. What should happen is that it recognizes that you aren’t logged in and re-directs you to the log-in screen.
I’d like an easy way to zoom in on the actual design on the shirt’s purchase page, or to have the design image already enlarged like on the featured day page.
I just got a crop of DBH shirts, of course, the prints are all amazing. I have to get them all tailored to my size though, because they are all too big and bunch up in the middle. (I had to take two inches out of the middle!) It seems like without extra smalls, I wont be able to pick up DBH shirts for myself. Sad news for me :(

How much does the tailoring cost? I strongly prefer the Perfect Tee fit to the Original one, and I was thinking of tailoring my Originals to a similar fit. Also, does it show?
hi…why dont you open a branch in asia…seems that your shirt would be accepted by asians…if you have any please let me know…

Currently my roommate is doing the tailoring, being the daughter of a seamstress, so its costing me some mere gift art. Shes just taking in the sides, so its a matter of making a new seam and then cutting the fabric, so no, not very noticeable. It also doesn’t seem that hard to do, so if you have a relationship with any places that do adjustments, it shouldn’t cost to much.
It wont be very cost effective for me to do this in the future, though, which is why I figured I should post it. I cant buy 25 dollar tees that don’t fit, but with a smaller size I’d actually be fine. I bought a few shirts for my guy friends and they fit pretty normally, but this is one of the strangest cuts of girls shirt I’ve ever seen. It seems to have a lot of room in the middle for bust, which is kinda unnecessary as tees stretch, and makes it impossible for me to wear these shirts which are slightly to big. They basically flab around in the middle.
Also, for 10k next year instead of 2-5 spots all receiving the exact same amount perhaps there can be slight increments. 5th place $1,000, 4th place $1200, 3rd place $1300, 2nd place $1500 and, of course $10,000 for 1st.
