congrats! first place and second are really awesome, but what happend to those cool tattoo-style shirts? I’d have bought one of those.
Congrats all, I had a feeling bartondamer & iconblast would win. Mr. Rocks gets slighted again!
congrats to all the winners. looks like Lil Wayne’s peeps did a pretty good job on picking the winners…..
CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!yay,Really Lil wayne has a good taste. (b8r than kol ,)
I think the winner was well done and 3rd place was decent. But I dont think Lil Wayne would even wear any of the above T-shirts. This looks like styles of winners that people on threadless wear, not true fans. I would be surprised if Threadless even makes any money off these shirts because I dont think alot of fans would wear these let alone purchase em.

Wrong website sir!
I personally think the styles chosen signify a variety of tastes..sorry they didn’t meet your taste. I personally think the black panther design is a very creative concept and nicely done…plus wayne probably thought it too, if not, probably wouldn’t have got picked. Fourth was very creative in his/her use of color and how the print should look on the t. First place reminds of some spaced out crazy music video stuff….or like the intro to “Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory” show haha..great detail!….much props to all! Don’t hate…congratulate.
Great variety. Glad to see that these got picked. Congrats LW winner’s. All winners submitted quality work.
Nice stuff! Iconblasts piece definitely fits the bill well. It’s on point with the streetwear illustration style and looks amazing. Great work to everyone!
congrats to the winners!
they are are really good. voted for all of them =]
there was one with over 300 votes i thought was going to win.. guess not
anyways.. are these up for sale?
again much much luv and props to contestants and winners! Bartondamer enjoy that concert man! You know you’ll be getting a good show! just finished uploading! enjoy peeples!
Congrats to the winners. All 4 are well deserved, I gave votes to 3 of these. As far as merchandise goes, these designs will sell like hot cakes. Congrats again. It was a fun comp to follow, and contribute too.
Thanks for the positive comments too from fluentsword and thestray.
the winners of these contests lately have been a bit disappointing, although the 1st place winner is nice, not my style tho.
Highly disappointed! Maybe 95% of the entries missed what the contest was about. Can’t believe that…nothing against the designers..but the designs aren’t that good.
I can understand some of the previous contests, but this contest… all the winners are bangin! You guys are crazy.
i dig the first one in this.
but did he choose the winner?
did the KOL contest even get picked by the band?
i dont think anyone ever answered that . . .
I wouldn’t wear any of these (and not just because I don’t care about lil wayne), but as what will inevitably become concert tees go, they’re pretty strong. A marked improvement over the incredibly embarrassing KOL selections

It was answered. The band chose. They didn’t choose very wisely though, haha. I don’t know about this one though.
Congratulations to all the winners!! you guys rock! haha any consolation prize? hihihi just kiddin.
Congrats to the 4…but come on now! I’m kinda disappointed. Does anyone listen to Lil Wayne?!?! You mean to tell me that the above designs stem from listening to his music. ha lol 3rd place is the most decent one. I’m not discrediting the designers. So nothing personal. Just think the designs didn’t quite measure up to what the contest was about. I appreciate the post though Cheeto. Again, congrats to the 4 winners and all the best!
Yeah i messed up the site name, but whatever. Im active in voting for both sites and it was a Monday. No I do not submit designs, so I am not salty that I didnt win. I am not trashing any of the designers, Im bashing the person who chose the winners. I would highly doubt it was lil wayne and if it was he was probably too busy drinking his cough syrup to actually care. You can tell who the real lil wayne fans are, posting in response to the winners. And to the person saying these shirts will sell like hot cakes, is just rediculous. Id like to see the numbers in a month from the sales, but it’s not going to happen so whatever.
Ok, the t-shirts aren’t bad, but seriously, I just lost so much respect for Design by Humans. Why on earth are you doing a contest involving lil wayne?? I thought this site was cool, artistic and different, but apparently you just follow the lame mainstream bullshit and listen to ridiculously bad music.
Regardless who the contest was about…the judging was poor! If someone told me that all I had to do for my first DBH contest was put a cat and some words on a shirt and be a winner…then doubt I’d be posting a comment. BUT…that didnt happen for me or the other cool designs. DBH is a fresh site and I like what they have going on. However, it seems like designs were done by humans and judged by robots.

You’ve got it all wrong treebee. The DBH music series is about all music and all artists from different genres. That’s why it’s called the “music series”, not the “what treebee listens to series”. I hope you can grasp the true meaning of the music series contests without being so judgmental as to who the artist is. I guess you’ll just have to wait for music series contest of your liking.

I’m pretty sure that the choices were made by Lil’ Wayne’s people, and I think they understand the fans pretty well. At least, I’d hope they do. Either way his official merchandise and web design are pretty terrible, so whether or not you or I like these, they certainly are better than what Wayne has now. I also don’t think you’re giving iconblast due credit. That’s a very well crafted graphic and smart composition. Conceptually it’s not a brain-buster, but I think that’s applicable to the artist. Lil’ Wayne doesn’t exactly wax philosophical in his music.
In order to voice your opinion and be taken seriously, one must A) get an avatar, B) submit a design and actually participate in the contest , C)say something that’s actually relevant
I have no problem with the 1st, 2nd, and 4th designs, but the 3rd place is really disappointing.
The design is an amateurish version of the work that people like Arrow put out regularly. The type is just masked under a template of Lil’ Wayne and then cut out. It cuts through all of the letters and really has no relation to the fonts or text used. Sure the copy was from stuff about Lil’ Wayne, and sure its his portrait, but really? Deserving of winning? I don’t think so.
Not to mention that, but the most annoying thing about this is who DBH is supporting by printing that shirt. If you’ll look at the artists thread in voting, he reacts to criticism of his design in a really immature way. Using a homosexual insult to get back at one commenter. DISGUSTING. Not to mention most of the good comments, and probably votes, were from people who just joined with nor profile and said awesome things about the design the creator is always putting out (with only 2 other designs on the site).
Sorry, but that 3rd place choice is really a slap in the face to artists in this community IMHO.

So because I dont have an avatar or dont submit work because I am not an artist nor pretend to be, that my opinion cannot be taken serious nor is it relavent? Makes sense…….
Kind of like saying if you arent an artist, do not go to art museums or even think about critiqueing artwork. If your statement had any validity or if anyone who does submit work here agress with you, they are just as nieve as you. I am sure that alot of people who submit work here also buy shirts but without the people who come here just to buy shirts and vote and take advantage or peoples submissions, there probably would not be a site up anymore as it would not be profitable. So if we are payign money for you to win and make money, we should definitely be able to critque designs, etc.
So take your own advice from you letter c.) and “say something that’s actually relevant”

Oh shut up you petulant little douchebag. You’re taking what I said off on a completely unrelated tangent. However, as a gesture of kindness on my part, if you need an avatar image I can send you a jpeg of me doin’ your Mom!
…And ‘naive’ is a word you should take care to spell correctly . You’ll look a little less pretentious in the future, fucktard.
I saw the printed KOL winners… Everything looks great when printed to a shirt. Even the one color jobbies I thought were very attractive. Maybe incredibly simple, but attractive.

I’m not sure what you were trying to say initially but it certainly did come off as pretentious. As though you need to be an artist to even be worthy of viewing your work. I think it’s fair for paulklug to argue that point. Very very few of the people buying your work will have any artistic experience or insight. Seeing that they sustain you, their opinions matter.

Sorry, but no. I merely meant that if one isn’t participating by means of a design submission, they should at least take the time to upload an avatar in the spirit of community rather than being a clandestine lurker. How is that pretentious? ?
……well? I’m waiting?

I don’t necessarily agree with that either. In any community where I’m not doing art stuff I don’t upload anything. I use AdBlock in Firefox to block 90% of the images so my surfing is clean and lean. Does that make my opinion less relevant? The important thing to note is that what you meant was not what you posted. What you posted is all we have to go on here in the internet. I think if you read what you typed again with an objective mindset you’ll see that.
Even the last line of your comment to me comes off with an air of pretense. As though your time is somehow more important. I don’t think that’s what you meant, but when things are only in black and white letters it’s not so clear.
Too many big words (clandestine?), and ima have to agree with paulklug on this one, though you shouldn’t take the fact that i have not submitted a design and instead get rejected. I think there are a lot of good points being made over a frivolous thing

Who made you boss?
I don’t listen to Lil Wayne, but I do like the kinda 80ies, spacey, overloaded look of the first one.
Me neither,I am not a fan for’ Weezy F baby’(Lil wayne’s famous nick name…lol).
but I like 1,2,& 4 T’s .They look nice.1st is my pick, & I guess his fans wud buy 3rd T (seriously)

Yes! Mom jokes! Please do send me that avatar. I will use it. But besides that, way to back peddle on your original statement when strangers on this forum call you out and I dont even have to. Also keep adding your intelligent comments on here and backing them up with solid statements like “douchebag” and “fucktard”, it really gets your point accross.
P.s. Sorry for the typos. Next time Ill bring it into word, reread, and spell check. You can see the amount of time I put into proofreading my statements looking at my original one when I refer to this site as threadless. Hahaha, oops

‘Douchebag’ and ‘fucktard’ are magical words – and don’t you forget it. You’re an idiot.
By the way, I have excellent table manners and I can decapitate an enemy with a single blow…..just so you know.

Okay … too many verbal wars and not enough celebrations for the winners announced! Really, people, you ought to be ashamed of yourselves!
Anyway, “Congrats, winners!” ;D
nice pick I actually thought the 3rd pick was Arrow’s…lol
LOVE the 2nd…didn’t even see it until just now! Congrats to all the winners

Arrow’s design wouldn’t be that amateurish. He would have actually embraced each letter of the words instead of just choppily adding a mask.
Good stuff from all winners. The detail in the 1st place design is GREAT. Love the attitude and character as well. Congrats!
first off congrats to the winners but im pretty sure there are much betters ones that couldve been picked, hopefully these wont sell and whoever chose the winners will look back at the good ones they passed over.

Hahah “Congrats to the winners, but I hope they won’t sell.” How nice of you.
Nico_Munoz said: 80 votes versus 264? what is the point for voting???
short version: voting is mostly irrelevant.. to get more people to come to this site who normally would not, with the hopes that they will buy something.
long verison: say i made a design (ive made a bunch actually..) and told my friends about it. “hey, if you vote for me, and i get a lot of votes, i might win! so got to dbh and vote for me! (insert link)” then my friends who had never heard of this place would make accounts if they were good friends, vote for me… and then be like “wow this site sells cool shirts im gonna buy one.” and then another shirt is sold, and then when the person wears it and gets a bunch of compliments the person tells those complimenting him that he got the shirt at www.designbyhumans.com and then they go on and see shirts they like and then they buy shirts… and the cycle continues. and thats probably one of the reasons why DBH is fairly successful.
nice choices i think. That first one looks great on the shirt! Mr Rocks has got to get something for his hyena design. That thing was beautiful. Resub!
jublin said: nice choices i think. That first one looks great on the shirt! Mr Rocks has got to get something for his hyena design. That thing was beautiful. Resub!
I agree that was a beautiful design. Kinda bummed the sponsors didn’t pick that one.
WinterArtwork- Welp, I’m kicking myself for not doing a type-illo for this now. And I’m honored that you n stormink see quality in my details. All those hours and hand cramps paid off. I guess I do a lot of them now that I think about it haha. But yeah, I don’t use font’s, all by hand is the only way. Still, I think that one looks nice though. I actually like most of these, Congrats guys.
Still trying to figure out what to do for the 10k challenge, hmm
congrats to the winners
