I think these designs are great! Especially for the target audience that they are probably going for pre-teen and teen skaters. The 3 in my house WAAAAANT these shirts. Especially if they are black.

Well judging by their 1st place pic gore wasn’t much of a problem.
Wow. Is this the norm? All sore losers posting after a win? It’s embarassing to read all the negative comments. By the way, having your friends and family vote for your design does not mean they will purchase your shirt if it ever becomes available. Do you know who calls the shots at quicksilver these days creativly? A legend. This is all I have to say. Keep designing everyone!
I thought that Quicksilver was a beachy type company that would want to promote a happy euphoric feeling, not really understanding how bloody fingers say happy and euphoric but if that is the way that they want to go then thats cool. Congrats to the winners, I will be waiting for the DBH branded ones.
Perhaps the DBH team should remove voting altogether for special contests. Seeing as it doesn’t have an effect on the choosing of the winners and that it can lead to some shifty shenanigans e.g.
N Design and his KOL entry with around 5000 votes.
Congrats to the winners.
The picks make sense guys, Quiksilver knows exactly what they are doing. Kudos to all the winners! I enjoyed the competition and I look forward to more “Design a Difference” themes. See you all in the ring for Lil’ Wayne.
woah, I only just realised that after looking at it for years the quicksilver logo is a derivative of the kanagawa wave. Hail Fibonacci
xnay on lil wayne’ ah for me

It’s just like doing multiple versions of a logo, poster, shirt design, etc… You really never know what the client will pick. No bad choices, just different directions. Considering that it is all about brand, I am sure there are a million reasons that these stood out. Congrats to the winners. All unique ideas.
Ok, so did anyone else assume that “design a difference” meant that you should design something that would hint towards something that would MAKE A DIFFERENCE? Great designs and all, but wtf are the contest titles for?
I don’t personally like these designs. I understand that are appropriate selections for pre teens and teens who skate and belong to that scene. I don’t really understand why this contest was on DBH because the demographic DBH appeals to and targets is not the preteen skater. It is much more artistic and expressive and unique. So while the selections make sense, the contest was inherently flawed, a lot of amazing designs were never even in the running because they never would have fit into the style quicksilver had decided it wanted – but didn’t seem to make very clear to the contest participants.
I’m not trying to bring down the winners – kudos to them for understanding what the competition really wanted.
Congratulations to the winners! it’s good to see that votes aren’t everything but it’s dissapointing that the brief had nothing to do with what quiksilver were looking for, which is annoying for a lot of the designers out there putting in so much time and effort….
I hope the future comps will be more relevant.
There were much better, much more original designs than these derivative ones shown here. I’ve seen a #1 type of shirt in all sorts of places, and that kind of gore is for a more “hardcore” skating aesthetic. 2 is original, and I wouldn’t buy #3.
WTF?
kinda lame, there were tons of cooler ones that had more votes, sort of a disappointment
Fluentswords design makes more sense….to what they wanted (or asked for).
