Dear Spammers
To the ones that say “Awesome design +1, Please check out my design” and copy/paste it on every entry,
I notice who you are, and this behavior, although it might help you get votes, it is actually counter productive when the DBH Staff and I have to make a decision on what to print.
Just sayin, “Oh, that’s that guy who spams on everyone’s design…” doesn’t really help to put you in good light.
Having been an artist myself on the site, and still participating from time to time, I totally despise spamming comments. I will be ruthlessly vocal in rejecting a design when it comes down to choosing a design between a legitimate vote getter versus a spammer.
Cheers!

aren’t you confident in your designs you made?everyone see the vote page, so your begging isn’t needed. If you see good art and like it. leave a note saying you like it. and if the person you left the note wants to check out your designs all they have to do is click your name or pic. asking them to check it out, equates to begging.
thank goodness i found this post.
information is vital since i’m a newbie.
it’s good to know now than later. hehe :)
Also, some post they voted you but doesn’t add a vote anyway. They’re just saying they voted. :/

ya they are both pretty average. and for me, the whole anime thing completely turns me off. i hate it
this is getting ridiculous.
Looks they miss some respect.
I hope they both don’t win, not even as people choice.
Hope DBH can find something to give the contest a nice end with really deserved winners.
and I hope they erase all that spamming on the forums.
HEY Guys, take a look at this design http://www.designbyhumans.com/vote/detail/50299?page=105
i think this design is great & deserve to win !!!
what u think?
if Yes = Vote plz
Man, the spam is awful. I hope they clean it up. I can"t hate on the guy for having alot of friends or whatever, but I’ve liked DBH for the familiar faces and community aspect. I hope DBH will back up the fact that they support good art and good members, and not just networking skills.

Here is spam in the thread about not spamming. What a turd!
I’m pretty sure DBH are not stupid and they know what to print.
They will spend money (prize and t-shirts) on a design.
A design that takes 500+ votes in few hours, voted by people subscribed the same month (or day) as the submission with no defaul icon, no orders and no other votes.
They probably wouldn’t print it because no one will but the t-shirt, and sure not 500 people ;)
I just ask myself where is the pleasure or the gratification to do this.
Even my t-shirt wasn’t printed, i know there are a lot of true people that likes it and this makes me feel proud and gives me the strenght to create new designs.
This is what i think.

It looks like DBH Authorities dropped the hammer. Said sub is gone.

I wish I could see how pissed off they are right now, haha. I bet he cried.
I missed the whole soap opera, which is to say that I didn’t really miss anything. I can respect that a family wants to look out for their own, but there are good and bad ways to do anything.
I would have 500+ votes all the time….but none of my forest friends have computers or internet access.

yeah .. new here and have noticed that .. ive voted on a couple .. and mostly commented .. i suppose its a nasty habit .. good to see its been noticed
I don’t like the spammers because it makes you look too desperate. I’ll probably see the work anyway because I usually check EVERY new submission on the weekends…
I don’t mind one of my favorites telling me on my profile page that they have something new though. If I put you as my favortie that means I’m interested in your work, so it’s cool to let me know you have something new.
jimiyo said: Tim, you doing anything for 10K? Also yes, BTinLC FTW!
Yessir! I will parlay my obsession with robots into a 10K sub this week/weekend. I’m thinking about doing a ‘process thread’ around it too. Is that considered spamming if it’s edu-fuh-cational?
I figured your absence on the forums meant you were toiling away on something for the 10k already. I get the feeling there’s going to be a shit-ton of ridiculously good designs dropped in the last few days before the deadline.

I’ve been entertaining a few ideas, but had to narrow them down to something remotely marketable and appealing to the masses. I agree that this contest will bring out some monster talent, and considering the $10K prize we will surely see some horror and humanity on the threads in terms of dialogue. My popcorn is at the ready!
Hey guys,
I’m a newbie without a design up for voting to spam with at the moment (so chill). That said, I’m looking at putting one up soon. Is there a way to promote your work within DBH? I get how annoying the “Awesome. Check mine!” posts can be and don’t want to be one of those people. I know the facebook, email, friends, family etc. approach has been put forth by other people, but I’m curious if there is any polite way to promote on DBH?

There’s really no need to promote here on DBH. Your design will already be in the vote section which most people check daily. They will have already seen it and formed their opinion on it, so there’s no real reason to show it a second time.
That said, I think the only real way to do it politely is if when making a thread in the forum (not a vote for my design thread) you can tag your design and it will show up on the page without it being super duper obvious and annoying.
Tigerbill said: …but I’m curious if there is any polite way to promote on DBH?
yes, there is: just put up your design and wait for the votes to come in (or not). and don’t post a “Hey guys, I need some critique/input/help/opinions on my design. please check out my old one here http://…” thread in the forum.
but that’s just my opinion. I could be wrong.
Thanks guys. Etiquette in these communities isn’t always obvious so it’s good to get an idea of how things work before I go and unwittingly put my foot in it.
Peace.
you wouldn’t be the first one.
but alot of people here actually don’t seem to mind, since there are tons of posts, promoting designs.
My new favorite spam is when someone posts a picture of their sub in the comments on another sub. That’s really classy.
I like the spam when you comment someone’s designs then they post a comment on your profile telling you to go check out the design you just commented!

Yeah, I got one of those on my 10k, pretty obnoxious.

Haha, yeah that looks familiar alright. I wonder how many other subs have that same misfortune.

She removed it from my comments after she got a little talking to, haha.

I think networking is a huge part of their goal and very smart on their part if you ask me. It forces thousands of people to visit the site and sign up, so in essence it’s free marketing, and If they keep it up they will have the largest internet contest site in the world. Not to mention the sales aspect.whooahahahha!!! Not that I like it cause it makes winning more difficult for us but you have to admit it is a good move speaking from a business standpoint

Well it’s good if those people become participating/buying members of the site. But most often, when someone is getting a hundred of their friends to come get the votes up, those people are never going to think twice about this site ever again. I get people to come support me here, but I also show them other designs they should vote for or buy, and even encourage them to submit if they’re fellow artists. That’s networking the site can benefit from. Getting your whole extended family to come give you an edge usually isn’t.
I just submitted a design but I don’t see it in the vote section yet. Where is it?
All submissions must first go through an internal screening process before being accepted into our vote section, or rejected. This initial screening usually takes 24-72 hours (excluding weekends and holidays). Once your submission is either accepted or rejected, you will receive an email notification.
