Technical question to Wotto

Hi Wotto,

I have a question regarding the screen printing process…

If there is a design with semi transparent elements, can that be done with screenprinting?

Or if not, is it possible to “underprint” the semi-transparent areas using the colour of the t-shirt?

Hi Ed,

Yes we can print transparent layers over one another to create the illusion of shades or tones of one or two colors.
Red (using halftones) over orange to create the illusion of many different shades of red and orange:

And CMYK lettering overlapping colors to create the illusion of other colors:

Red and Yellow printed over one another to create a watercolor brush look:
