Maybe I should have been clearer but the free shirt thing isn’t really to the customers, it’s to the store. You guys can try to guess who the band is though (although if someone really knows I would appreciate they didn’t ruin my chance of getting a free shirt =P).
I just saw the whole video (I stopped when I saw the shirt) and it apears a few times and not just for a second. :)
I can almost guarantee that they will not give you that. People report DBH sightings for free all the time, why should they pay you for it?

Unless it was Oasis or a band of that level it really doesn’t effect sales. If you tell me and we announce it and we sell more than 100 shirts on the back of the information I’ll gladly send you a tee. I am guessing outside of the UK they may not even be known at all.
I like your approach though, I live by the rule “if you don’t ask you don’t get”.

You’re probably right in terms of sales it’s just that I put myself in your position and I’d glady give a free shirt for an information like this even if I wasn’t a fan of the band just ‘cause it’s a pretty cool thing to know. Not if it was just a college band or something like that of course, they would need to be known and I understand it might be hard to define if it matters or not without knowing who the artists/band is (they might be signed to a major label and/or having played the biggest festival in the world and still not being known). And they are famous outside the UK, I’m from Portugal and I checked them out at the end of 2009 ‘cause they were opening for The Prodigy if should go or not (I had seen them in them in the summer), they already played in festivals like Coachella (USA), Rock Werchter (Belgium), Download Festival, Sziget (Hungary), Rock am Ring (Germany), ...

hmm. i’m into some bands from the UK but I get most of my info from nme magazine/radio (nme.com) and i’ve never really seen them on there…but nme is a bit more mainstream.
well in other news, i’m going to a concert tonight and wearing my dbh shirt, so maybe i’ll get a couple of people asking me about it!! maybe a couple of bands..i’ve already met one of the bands that’s playing. they were pretty nice :)
