Sebasebi’s Imaginative T Shirt Designs
Sebasebi hails from Rosario, Argentina and has an impressive 6 shirt prints at DBH. He has produced some of the most popular tees in DBH’s catalog including The Painter, No Fear and Deeply. His work usually has a human element that people can relate to but always has a sense of mystery too. I had the pleasure of this creative enigma’s company recently and he revealed some interesting things:

Sebasebi’s Colorful Imagination and Fun
Q: Sebastian please give us an insight into life in Argentina. I know you have a great Soccer team, Evita and The Tango but tell us something we didn’t know about your marvelous country of origin.
A: Argentina is a great country, I live in Rosario, is the second city most important in the country, We have an amazing river where navigate, it is very hot in summer and too cold in winter.
Q: What got you started in the T-shirt design business?
A: During my high school time, I was living in boarding house. I did not own TV, ipod (or any kind of digital music player) or Internet. I passed my time listening to radio. During that time I remembered every song in the chart. I also predicted which song would be no.1 quite accurately. Radio is something that is dear to me. There are beautiful landscapes throughout the country, glaciers and mountains in the south, falls and valleys in the north and the people are very friendly and cheerful.

Q: Now let’s discuss your art. Would you say your work is human based, do you look to connect with the audience through human experiences?
A: Completely. I like to draw pictures with action, not something still, I mean, for example, “use technology” you can imagine the child stacking all those devices, and can also imagine what’s behind that wall. The same happens with the others, they have intriguing content and concept, that is what interests me.
Q: Your recent print ‘Deeply’ gathered many many votes and was received very well when it finally printed. How do you market yourself to get those votes and followers?
A: Honestly, not much, publish it on Facebook, Mintees and Devianart.
DBH has many users. :)
Q: When an idea pops into your head for a new tee design how do you extract it from the depths of your mind and make it a finished product? What is your process?
A: I think in drawings all the time, then from a thought or reflection for example: ecology, freedom, politics, etc ideas grow. I get a title, then I do the design, I sometimes see an image and an idea comes. When I’m in the creative process, try to “absorb” all I see and listen to transform and create something new.
And then …. a lot hours of work.
Q: Which of your DBH graphic tees is your favorite and why?
A: Make your own universe, is the one most represent me.
Q: When you are not designing stuff what other activities do you get up to?
A: I play the trumpet, and if there is wind I like to go sailing.
Q: Tell us a secret about yourself.
A: I never thought I would live off doing what I love.
Q: ‘The Painter’ has been a popular tee and has been reprinted a number of times. Why do you think this design is so popular with the DBH crowd?
A: I really do not know, I was also surprised when reprinted and sold it all again
Q: Which DBH shirt designer do you think will be the most successful in 2012? Who do you admire and which new artist do you think will take off?
A: I hope I will! Hahaha, no seriously,......that’s a difficult question! I never thought about it before…. I think dandingeroz. I like the work of tolagunestro, dzeri29, mathiole, kharmazero, metalsan, and many more, there are really great artists. I think Kyle_Cobban will take off too, he´s work is awesome.
Q: Finally, you have one movie that you must watch everyday for the rest of your life. Which movie would it be?
A: There are many films that I like, but I’m not a fan of cinema. If it happened with music I would choose: Kid A by Radiohead, Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd, and all of Miles Davis.
