Diablo III T-shirt Design Contest

Hello, my friend.
Stay awhile and listen…

Design by Humans is looking for some heroic Humans – or perhaps Demon Hunters or Monks – to design truly worthy T-shirts inspired by Blizzard's Action RPG masterpiece, Diablo III. Design By Humans and its community are a force to be reckoned with in the t-shirt design world, so we're thrilled to be partnering with Blizzard Entertainment, an absolute juggernaut in the video game design world. Combine these two forces, and we expect to see some truly extraordinary shirt designs.

This Is Your Canvas, Create An Epic Diablo III T-Shirt

This Is Your Canvas, Create An Epic Diablo III T-Shirt

By entering, you're giving yourself the chance to have your work seen by the creative minds at Blizzard Entertainment, the very people behind some of the greatest video game titles of the last 20 years. Not to mention reviewed by Design By Humans and it's global community.

Together, we're sending you on a quest: design a t-shirt using characters from Diablo III, and then pit them against each other in a massive art contest for a combined $12,500 in cash and additional prizes. Your quest is somewhat less dangerous than defeating the Prime Evils. No need to fight Mephisto – but feel free to incorporate him into your design.

In fact, you can incorporate any of fifteen character designs from the Diablo Universe listed below.

Hi Silviu13, That looks great! You may have to fade the art around the edges a little so it remains in the ‘body’ part of the shirt. You are restricted to ten colors but looking at this I think this could be broken down to ten with some halftones. So far so good. Hopefully you’ll be submitting more than one too!

Definitely joining, October 7th is my birthday!

Also @silviu13
make sure that your design is recognizable as one of the characters that they have listed above… your character must represent one of “the characters listed” and cannot be any other character created by blizzard.

Thanks for the answer wotto. But I guess the kind of rendering technique I’m talking about isn’t supported. Like I’m still not sure about those colors restrictions. I mean I have like the 6 colors in the image and the rest is just color value.

@jshoemake15: He’s the Barbarian character, I guess it’ll be more recognisable when it’s finshed

wotto wotto Staff: Creative Director from CA, United States

@silviu13 I recognized him as a Barbarian. Yes the values will be converted to halftones by our separator. I don’t see any issues with this art going to print on a tee, we have printed paintings before. As long as the basic colors are 10 we can halftone the rest. In a contest like this, if the art is amazing we will work on making it an equally amazing printed tee even if that means we have to go an extra mile.

Ok, Thanks for clearing that up wotto
Good luck to you all, I’m curious what everybody comes up with.

I’m going to give it a try, I’m in. But to make sure I understand this I have a question. ‘Craft your t-shirt design entries based on one of the following characters.’ Does this mean we create our own take/design based on a character from the list, or does it mean use the existing character designs for the t-shirt design?

wotto wotto Staff: Creative Director from CA, United States

@TrappedInFlesh It means you can interoperate the characters to create a tee design. So you should be drawing your own version of the character, staying true to their characteristics but putting your style or spin on them. Next week when entries are posted for voting you will see more examples. Best of luck everyone!

Silviu, great work!!!!!

jshoemake15 jshoemake15 Artist from United States

Don’t know why my images weren’t showing, but hopefully this one does. Its my diablo WIP still a lot of work to go though

wotto wotto Staff: Creative Director from CA, United States

@silviu13 Personally, I’d lose the frame, put this on a charcoal heather tee and have the art run off the bottom of the tee. Removing the background or fading the edges cleverly would also add to this tee. Maybe like this:
