Diablo III T-shirt Design Contest

Hello, my friend.
Stay awhile and listen…

Design by Humans is looking for some heroic Humans – or perhaps Demon Hunters or Monks – to design truly worthy T-shirts inspired by Blizzard's Action RPG masterpiece, Diablo III. Design By Humans and its community are a force to be reckoned with in the t-shirt design world, so we're thrilled to be partnering with Blizzard Entertainment, an absolute juggernaut in the video game design world. Combine these two forces, and we expect to see some truly extraordinary shirt designs.

This Is Your Canvas, Create An Epic Diablo III T-Shirt

This Is Your Canvas, Create An Epic Diablo III T-Shirt

By entering, you're giving yourself the chance to have your work seen by the creative minds at Blizzard Entertainment, the very people behind some of the greatest video game titles of the last 20 years. Not to mention reviewed by Design By Humans and it's global community.

Together, we're sending you on a quest: design a t-shirt using characters from Diablo III, and then pit them against each other in a massive art contest for a combined $12,500 in cash and additional prizes. Your quest is somewhat less dangerous than defeating the Prime Evils. No need to fight Mephisto – but feel free to incorporate him into your design.

In fact, you can incorporate any of fifteen character designs from the Diablo Universe listed below.

@TamplierPainter – Nice of you to join the party. I am a big fan of your work. This art is epic and printable, with some half-toning from our separator this would make a very nice tee. I’d probably use 3 reds, 2 oranges, white, 3 browns and a yellow and a green to capture this. Nicely done, only 2 more subs to go ;)

Hi everyone!
I have a question. I’ve already drawn the biggest part of my work and just noticed that there’s a finite number of colors I should use.
Isn’t this number of colours too much?
As I can see, I used here red, orange, yellow and green only…am I right?

@Luneder: That’s a fantastic start! Definitely looking forward to seeing the final product.

@7sixes Wow. That’s already come a long way from your initial sketch.

Hi Marylou, the character provided by Blizzard are listed here and artists should stick to the gender of the image posted. However if you have an almost complete design it might be worth submitting it and we, if it meets the requirements will put it forward fro Blizzard to decide.

Hello everybody,
I´d like to join the contest. But unfortunately I began drawing the female version of the wizard until a friend told me that only the male version was shown in the list of characters. Does anybody know if it is allowed to draw both genders of the given characters?

7sixes 7sixes Artist from Minnesota, United States

Maybe 10% done

WOW!!!!!!!!!!! That azmo painting is insane…

Luneder Luneder Artist from Idaho, United States

I still have a crap ton of work to put into it but if I read the other posts right as long as the color range isn’t too wide (ten color limit) I should be fine with this since a lot of it can be interpreted with half tones since this is fairly monochromatic. So far the main hitch I am having is getting him sized right to not only take up the whole front but also fit those nipple rings in since it isn’t Azmodan without those rings lol. I will also be adding some flame effects in the same range as his mouth and eyes, would this effect it much?

@ArthemysLunae: Submissions are posted for voting after they are reviewed by Blizzard. This is a weekly process so there could be a delay of a few days or more between submitting and seeing it on the voting page depending on when you submit.

@Wotto Thank you very much, i choose the 40×40 format! And thanks for your words! I have another question, if it doesn’t bother you: i don’t understand if every week will be posted new works or if it’s daily :)

This is my final sketch, now i can begin to work on it with colors and co :) it’s still caotic i know but i hope it become a good work (sorry for my english, i’m italian and i know it’s not so good :D)

Quienton Quienton Human from United States

okay… can I draw this out? Im a terrible painter but I can draw it where it will look very real.

hectorivera hectorivera Human from Mexico

can i draw a crusader plzzz :c

LaraBara LaraBara Human from Canada

@Inked Ah, ok my mistake. I thought it was based upon vote count. Cool!

wotto wotto Artist from CA, United States

@ArthemysLunae – You should be working at40” x 40” if you are designing an all-over printed tee (covering the entire front of the tee) if it’s just fitting in the main front area of the tee 20” x 28” is probably the best size to work at. That sketch looks like a cool start and I love that you have chosen to be more creative with composition.

ArthemysLunae ArthemysLunae Artist from Milano, Italy

I have another question. A draw like this, where the main character, my Demon Hunter is hunting two succubus…it’s ok or i have to draw only the Demon Hunter?

ArthemysLunae ArthemysLunae Artist from Milano, Italy

Hi! I have a simple question for the contest: can i make the paint in a free size (ex: 30×40 cm) or it’s a better size for do it? Thank you very much :)

Inked Inked Staff: Community Manager from California, United States

@jshoemake15: You’re welcome! Malthael is a cool looking Archangel of Wisdom or Angel of Death and the mist-like wings are just awesome. Blizzard makes some amazing cinematics and this is definitely no exception.

@LaraBara: Everyone remains on an equal footing. Votes are not the sole deciding factor of who wins. A piece of artwork that is submitted on the last day has as much chance as a design submitted on day 1. Both Design By Humans and Blizzard Entertainment are looking at everything. At the end of the day it’s an art competition and we’re looking for the best of the best. Votes help us determine what the community likes, but other factors such as printability, accuracy, quality etc come into play.

LaraBara LaraBara Human from Canada

A minor quibble that I have with this contest is that voting begins at the same time as the first day you’re able to submit. People who are submitting their designs before those who are only hearing about this much later are getting a giant head start for receiving votes which I feel is a bit unfair. Normally, these contests only allow voting to happen after the submission deadline so that everyone is on equal footing.

@BobyBrad The whole thing is based on the abilities of the monk, the sweeping winds in the background, thunder lighting, the kick strikes and the animations from both male and female and I want to continue near to the ears of the half portrait with other abilities from both male and female, but don t know if the colors from the strikes are appropriate for print and contest…

jshoemake15 jshoemake15 Artist from United States

@Inked: Man that cinematic was awesome… Oh and by the way thanks for posting that. It really gave me some views of malthael that I could really incorporate.
