Diablo III T-shirt Design Contest

Hello, my friend.
Stay awhile and listen…

Design by Humans is looking for some heroic Humans – or perhaps Demon Hunters or Monks – to design truly worthy T-shirts inspired by Blizzard's Action RPG masterpiece, Diablo III. Design By Humans and its community are a force to be reckoned with in the t-shirt design world, so we're thrilled to be partnering with Blizzard Entertainment, an absolute juggernaut in the video game design world. Combine these two forces, and we expect to see some truly extraordinary shirt designs.

This Is Your Canvas, Create An Epic Diablo III T-Shirt

This Is Your Canvas, Create An Epic Diablo III T-Shirt

By entering, you're giving yourself the chance to have your work seen by the creative minds at Blizzard Entertainment, the very people behind some of the greatest video game titles of the last 20 years. Not to mention reviewed by Design By Humans and it's global community.

Together, we're sending you on a quest: design a t-shirt using characters from Diablo III, and then pit them against each other in a massive art contest for a combined $12,500 in cash and additional prizes. Your quest is somewhat less dangerous than defeating the Prime Evils. No need to fight Mephisto – but feel free to incorporate him into your design.

In fact, you can incorporate any of fifteen character designs from the Diablo Universe listed below.

@Inked Ah, ok my mistake. I thought it was based upon vote count. Cool!

@ArthemysLunae – You should be working at40” x 40” if you are designing an all-over printed tee (covering the entire front of the tee) if it’s just fitting in the main front area of the tee 20” x 28” is probably the best size to work at. That sketch looks like a cool start and I love that you have chosen to be more creative with composition.

I have another question. A draw like this, where the main character, my Demon Hunter is hunting two succubus…it’s ok or i have to draw only the Demon Hunter?

ArthemysLunae ArthemysLunae Artist from Milano, Italy

Hi! I have a simple question for the contest: can i make the paint in a free size (ex: 30×40 cm) or it’s a better size for do it? Thank you very much :)

@jshoemake15: You’re welcome! Malthael is a cool looking Archangel of Wisdom or Angel of Death and the mist-like wings are just awesome. Blizzard makes some amazing cinematics and this is definitely no exception.

@LaraBara: Everyone remains on an equal footing. Votes are not the sole deciding factor of who wins. A piece of artwork that is submitted on the last day has as much chance as a design submitted on day 1. Both Design By Humans and Blizzard Entertainment are looking at everything. At the end of the day it’s an art competition and we’re looking for the best of the best. Votes help us determine what the community likes, but other factors such as printability, accuracy, quality etc come into play.

A minor quibble that I have with this contest is that voting begins at the same time as the first day you’re able to submit. People who are submitting their designs before those who are only hearing about this much later are getting a giant head start for receiving votes which I feel is a bit unfair. Normally, these contests only allow voting to happen after the submission deadline so that everyone is on equal footing.

@BobyBrad The whole thing is based on the abilities of the monk, the sweeping winds in the background, thunder lighting, the kick strikes and the animations from both male and female and I want to continue near to the ears of the half portrait with other abilities from both male and female, but don t know if the colors from the strikes are appropriate for print and contest…

@Inked: Man that cinematic was awesome… Oh and by the way thanks for posting that. It really gave me some views of malthael that I could really incorporate.

Hey, I haven t finished this yet, but i want to know if its good, if I haven t used to many colors, some feedback…

For anyone wanting to add a little excitement to their day I recommend you go watch the Opening Cinematic to the new Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls expansion. He’s baaack!

@daleconcepts Speed painting is fine but be aware of the color restrictions in play here too.

jrtoyman jrtoyman Artist from Quezon City, Philippines

Had just submitted mine…..lots of talent here so just hoping…...good luck to all who will join. :-)

daleconcepts daleconcepts Artist from Philippines

cool.. thanks wotto… I’m talking bout speed painting actually .. some of us are not good with that technique , well as what you said we can try different alt methods to
incorporate our own style on diablo characters… excited to see what everyone can do bout this theme.

jshoemake15 jshoemake15 Artist from United States

not a lot to go off of on this guy but I’m takin a crack at malthael

wotto wotto Artist from CA, United States

@daleconcepts – I am not sure what techniques you are referring to specifically but the teams would like to see drawn materials. You can try many alternative styles and I encourage people to try something a bit different. We don’t want all the winners to look the same. You get 3 tries at this so if you have the time and skill I say bring on some alternative methods.

daleconcepts daleconcepts Artist from Philippines

Hey guys is it ok to try other design style ? I noticed that diablo characters are purely made from digital painting … some of us are not good with that technique
will it be still acceptable to try other own designing methods? like what we used to do in submitting on regular subs.. ??

N9NE N9NE Artist from United States

Hi guys this is my concept so far. Any critics? Also may I use more than 4 colors?

Inked Inked Staff: Community Manager from California, United States

@onethousand: Submissions can be black and white if that is the design the artist is going for. There is no requirement to utilize any color.

onethousand onethousand Human from Canada

Hey, I have a design question. Do the designs have to be coloured or can they have a more black and white/traditional art/drawing type look to them?
