Diablo III T-shirt Design Contest

Hello, my friend.
Stay awhile and listen…

Design by Humans is looking for some heroic Humans – or perhaps Demon Hunters or Monks – to design truly worthy T-shirts inspired by Blizzard's Action RPG masterpiece, Diablo III. Design By Humans and its community are a force to be reckoned with in the t-shirt design world, so we're thrilled to be partnering with Blizzard Entertainment, an absolute juggernaut in the video game design world. Combine these two forces, and we expect to see some truly extraordinary shirt designs.

This Is Your Canvas, Create An Epic Diablo III T-Shirt

This Is Your Canvas, Create An Epic Diablo III T-Shirt

By entering, you're giving yourself the chance to have your work seen by the creative minds at Blizzard Entertainment, the very people behind some of the greatest video game titles of the last 20 years. Not to mention reviewed by Design By Humans and it's global community.

Together, we're sending you on a quest: design a t-shirt using characters from Diablo III, and then pit them against each other in a massive art contest for a combined $12,500 in cash and additional prizes. Your quest is somewhat less dangerous than defeating the Prime Evils. No need to fight Mephisto – but feel free to incorporate him into your design.

In fact, you can incorporate any of fifteen character designs from the Diablo Universe listed below.

Hello. These are the recommended sizes of high res art for printing:
Standard 17.5” x 19”
Oversized 19” x 25”
All-over 40” x 35”

@wotto Out of curiosity, how large would you need it for printing, as the minimum size I mean?

@shemhazai You can make 4 separate layers and yes you can use half-toned shades of those colors to create layered color effects. For instance if you had a red and yellow layer, you could use halftoned red under yellow to create the illusion of orange. There would be no orange ink, obviously.

You can do a two sided print but we only print those if the art is exceptional. They are limited to 4 colors each side.

You need to submit jpegs for voting at 640×480 and 320×240 for the thumbnail. If your art wins and is chosen for print we would need a high resolution psd or ai. file to print from. I hope this helps you to understand the process. Good luck with your submission.

I think i understand. So, by making color separation (4 layers) and adding halftone effect to each color (layer) i can create as many colors i want? I think i understand. Sorry for noob question but i never did graphic for printing so it was black magic for me. One more thing, can i create graphic on both sides on the shirt? I saw something like that in submitted work in this contest. What would be limitation for something like this? 2 separate images with 640×480 resolution, 72ppi? Or if it should be only one 640×480 but with 2 separate images on it (for example 320×480+320×480)?

@shemhazai – grays can be made with halftones and that is something artists should be doing. Our separator will make halftones if they are required but it may alter the ‘look’ of the art when printed. It’s always better to do them as part of the submission. I’m not sure what you mean by the colors changing when you resize.

Hi, i have question about color restriction. Is the color tones counts? I mean, when i have for examples black & white picture drawn in photoshop, there are some gray shades in lines (some gray pixels), is this counts as a color? Is it strictly 10 color restriction? What about resizing? It will allways make some new colors (shades) after resizing.

@shihamanji Wow! I can see patience, hardwork and passion in this picture.

Hello, You can post the design to DA and your social media outlets too Luneder and be sure to post a link back to your submission to get votes :)

ADAMLAWLESS ADAMLAWLESS Artist from Johor Bahru, Malaysia

@Luneder – I DONT THINK THERE IS, you can promote for voting, I gez nothing wrong with that. For portfoilio: unless u win you might want to ask DBH coz its a different story. Goodluck :-)

Luneder Luneder Artist from Idaho, United States

is there any rules we saying we cannot post the submitted artwork online somewhere like DA (personal portfolio)? Asking before I do that.

cj50500 cj50500 Artist from Kentucky, United States

@ADAMLAWLESS Alrighty then man, I’ll take your word for it lol

ADAMLAWLESS ADAMLAWLESS Artist from Johor Bahru, Malaysia

@daletheskater – somehow you did bring the design to another level, I like it…may I suggest you balance up both shoulder/arm.
@cj50500 – no, blood not necessary, I ever read Wotto’s opinion about one design with the same question.

cj50500 cj50500 Artist from Kentucky, United States

@AnhLe819 Yeah that’s what I figured, but I wasn’t sure cause it’s a t-shirt lol
@daletheskater You’re welcome! And thank you, I’m gonna mess around with it a bit! _
@dlbuholabs Congrats man! Thanks and hmm I’ll try different placement and stuff then :D

daletheskater daletheskater Artist from Australia

@ cj50500 – I think it looks awesome as is without the blood! :)

dibuholabs dibuholabs Artist from Philippines

My submission got in! Thanks DBH!

@cj50500 – looking good man! I guess you can put blood in a more stylized manner.

AnhLe819 AnhLe819 Artist from United States

cj50500, I don’t see why blood is not allowed. Since the game is all about killing and bloody. It’s gonna be hard to pick the winners, they should have 100+ winners because they are so good.

daletheskater daletheskater Artist from Australia

@ cj50500 – Thanks dude! :D Yeah the pose is meant to portray his strength but I can see where your coming from…
@ jrtoyman – Thanks for the kind words my friend! It’s really appreciated! :)
